25 Scriptures To Run To When You Feel Like Giving Up

black-woman-reading

I think we’ve all been there at least once in our lives: Ready to give up when it seems like the burden has become too much to bear.  It could be a relationship, a job, an illness, or maybe even life itself… the feeling of just throwing in the towel seems like the best thing to do (at least at the moment anyway).

The best thing to do when you feel like giving up is turn to the good book; the Bible. The Bible is full of encouragement for any and every situation we could possibly face.

  5. So hard to be steadfast when the weight of the world feels dumped on your shoulders. Honestly, if it wasnt for the name of Jesus, and his love for me , where would I be. Thank you Jesus for the cross. Im trying. Im reading the word. I remain in hope. ♡

  6. Thanks for the effort, but sometimes all the scripture in the world, and all the great intentions still don’t help. I feel alone on a desert island. Lost and abandoned . I pray, but still feel empty. There are days I hate being me and I wonder why I’m even alive. I read my bible, I try to reflect and meditate, I listen to spiritual music, I pray, yet, still I’m alone in my misery.

    • My heart aches for you, Lisa. Please don’t give up on God – Hi is there with you, He hears you, and He loves you. I understand that it is difficult. I once read about a child calling to his parents on a stormy night because he was afraid alone in his bedroom. The parents reminded him that God was with him, but he replied he needed Dad because he needed ‘God with skin on’. I am not a church-goer myself, but maybe you need more contact with others in a church family? I’m sure you have wrestled with this, and I wish I had the ‘magic’ words to help you. I find a lot of wisdom in reading Christian books – both fiction (Left Behind series), and non-fiction such as devotionals and commentaries. It is vital to read the Bible, but it helps to understand it, too. I found great teaching and guidance on the radio – there are many good bible scholars on the radio – usually on AM stations. Above all, trust God. I plan to print this and put it on my bathroom mirror for a while.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11″ AMEN

  9. I have to be honest, I need an opinion. Please don’t see me badly, but I have to tell the truth of what happened. I met this girl around the time I was coming to God and started believing, or so I thought. I was with her for a year and a half with more happiness than I’d ever experienced in my life. Well my old ways crept in and my old sexual past came into play where it became a thing where I wanted to do that all the time. She didn’t want to, but because she loved me she tried her hardest to always please me no matter what. She’s a great Christian girl, I’m the one who messed up. After a while of me backsliding I lost her.. She left. It was then I broke down completely. I realized how messed up and in the wrong I had been and it was like the Lord Jesus Christ and the Father smacked me in the face to wake me up. I realized then that I believed in God, but didn’t walk in the path of righteousness, didn’t have Christ in my life at the time, and was stuck in old ways. I’ve grown so immensely so over this last year since her and I split, but I know it’s all praise and thanks to the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I saw my old vices go away, no more smoking, no sex, no drinking, no lying, finally reading scripture but letting God help me to understand it, doing more for others, using my talents to praise the Lord Jesus and the Father, getting involved more in Bible studies, no more worldly music, no more old ways being me. All things I tried so hard to stop that I couldn’t by myself. It showed me how much I needed Christ to begin with and that’s why I failed the girl I believe God wants me with. Here’s why I posted this comment though. I always find myself thinking of her, praying for her, seeing things that connect to her, heck I remember her and I had a dream each and we had a child named Isaiah in both of our dreams. She hasn’t been with anyone since me and I truly do believe that God wants her with me and for her to see that I am the one for her, but not the man I used to be. I have been waiting this time for her and have committed myself to waiting for her or being single and celibate for life if she doesn’t come back. I don’t remember what chapter and verse, but it essentially says that we don’t know what we ought to pray for and therefore God helps us know what to pray for and desire. I truly believe he wants her and I together, but my heart hurts so much because sometimes the feeling of being lonely, not alone because we’re never alone, but lonely without her hurts so much. In the end I want her to be first and foremost for the Lord and the Father, happy walking in the word, but I also want to show her how he redeemed me of my old ways and made me who he wants me to be for him and for her and I together. I do love this girl and she is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever laid eyes upon. I miss all of the good times we had together, not the old bad things I fell into. Even typing this draws tears. It’s my only desire in my life for myself. Everything else God has taken care of and I try to continually let him renew me. I’m sorry if this was long. May the Lord Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father bless you all as well as your loved ones. I’ve committed to waiting, and I know that scripture says ask in the name of the Lord Jesus and believe and it will be given unto you, so I won’t lose hope, but sometimes it hurts so much..

  10. Amen please God forgive me and take it all. Jesus take my burdens. Please… You know … I missed it so much and so many times….help me… Only You can ΄fix΄ it ALL
