When God Makes You Wait

sad-woman-looking-out-window

Jesus could have come and healed Lazarus when he was still alive.

Instead, He waited to raise him from the dead when he was already in his grave.

God could have made David become king the day after he was anointed.

Instead, He waited 15 years to rise to the throne, many of those years spent fearing for his life, hiding out and running away from his own father-in-law.

God could have spoken to Moses in the desert about sending him to help free His people from slavery 40 days after he ran away from Egypt.

Instead, He made him wait for 40 long years.

God could have gotten Joseph out of prison one year after he was sentenced there.

Instead, he was stuck in that dungeon for 10 years before he was finally set free.

God could have given Abraham the son He promised him when he was still a young man.

Instead, He waited until he was 100 years old and because of physical reasons would have a more difficult time conceiving at that age.

God could have answered prayers and met the needs of these men of God much quicker, but He didn’t.

He made them wait instead.

And He often makes us do the same.

He makes us wait for healing to come after we’ve been praying for years and there is no sign of recovery.

He makes us wait to fulfill His call in our lives after He puts the desire and passion in our hearts to serve Him in a certain way.

He makes us wait to give us the desires of our hearts, whether it’s a baby, a spouse, or a new job.

He makes us wait for direction when we are stuck at a dead end and we don’t know where to go or what to do.

He could answer that same prayer that you’ve been praying for years every night in a millisecond.

That same prayer that has been bringing you to tears.

That same prayer that the longer that it goes unanswered, the more it makes you question whether He even hears.

He kept Moses in a desert for 40 years.

Joseph in a prison cell for 10 years.

Abraham without a child for 100 years.

David on the run for 15 years.

And maybe He is keeping you right where you’re at for the same reason He kept these men for so many years: to build your faith.

To build your faith in a dungeon cell, during the valley in your life where it’s too dark to see and too hard to believe.

To build your dependence on Him when you are barren and empty to see if He is truly all you desire and all you need.

To see how well you will trust and serve Him when you are still stuck in the background somewhere, doing seemingly nothing too significant for Him.

To build your trust in Him when the storm keeps raging, the battle keeps going and breakthrough and victory doesn’t seem near.

That we grow in faith.

That we learn to only depend on Him.

What are you waiting for today?

What longing do you have that seems so far from ever being fulfilled?

What prayer do you keep on praying that seems to never reach God’s ears?

I want to remind you that God is not deaf to your prayers.

He is not blind to your constant tears, to your desires, and to your needs.

IF He is making you wait, there is a very good reason for it.

If He is telling you “no” today, maybe it’s because He has a better “yes” waiting for you tomorrow.

If He is keeping you in the same place you’ve always been today, maybe it’s because He’s helping build your faith before you enter your Promised Land tomorrow.

If He is not healing you or bringing you victory today, maybe it’s because you will have a greater testimony when He waits to help you be an overcomer tomorrow.

Wherever you are at today know that God is right beside you and that there is a purpose for you. Even if that purpose is to wait.

Don’t give up just because you don’t see anything happening today.

Maybe there is nothing physically happening that your eyes can see but there is definitely something happening in the spiritual realm as you learn to rely on Christ.

Don’t allow your waiting period to make you hopeless about what tomorrow will bring.

Instead, let it build your faith and give you even greater hope for what God has prepared for you.

He made some of the greatest men of faith wait.

Don’t be discouraged if He makes you wait as well.

He will come through for you, just like He came through for them.

  1. Thank you God bless you always I needed these prayers I m finding myself in disparate over a situation I have no control I m powerless, but I will trust the Lord at all times

  2. Thank you so much for this. We used this for our devotional and discussion starter at a women’s event today and God used it to break down some walls and create genuine community. Thank you so much!

  3. Wow! Thank you so much for this. This came right on time for me, for the past 3 years I’ve been struggling to decide what I truly want to do with my life, I am in college right now and I just feel so stuck and frustrated and I’ve been praying and praying but I know god has something special planned for me I just need to keep the faith and be patient. Thanks again!

  4. I agree with most of this. However, please be careful to not assume that the Lord has made a woman barren simply to see if he is her everything. I personally know a case where this isn’t true. Those words can hurt. Although I see your intention. Thank you!

    • I am a “barren” woman and my biggest struggle has been my infertility. I think we have to make a distinction between barrenness as God’s judgement and having to wait for God’s purpose somehow. Her examples are to me, showing that God has a purpose in our waiting, just like the examples she gave of people from the Bible. I don’t believe that God has kept me from conceiving because I’m deficient somehow but He has some kind of reason and it has grown my faith so I can see a purpose in it. It’s a fine line and I think the writer is pointing out that there can be a good purpose for it so that we in fact can stop feeling like we are being punished but rather refined.

      • Barrenness, physical abnormalities, born in a poor family, etc. are I think natural circumstances. But that shouldn’t be the reason for blaming our creator. We are unique. Each people has his/her own struggle. God is with us. Whatever and wherever we are, he would come and reach for us if we call on Him. We are empowered with greatness because we have a mighty God. How you see yourself is how you see THE ONE who created you. Let’s keep our trust in God, wait for His timing and workout His plans on us. God bless us always!

        • I happened to read this due to a post made by my daughter. I wish to say that we are born into a world of sin and consequently there are many deficiencies all around, to and from people over generations. This may have caused the innocent to question God to work the impossible. He could, but very often he wants us to know that He has good plans for our lives and He can bring these plans to fruition even with our deficiencies, as we submit to Him and Find Contentment in His sufficiency. We need to focus outside of us, and strive to make a difference to the people and the world around us – That will be our source of Joy and fulfillment through Jesus Christ.

          • So then, what happens after you have ministered to everyone around you, and gave of all of yourself that you could have and helped and encouraged other people until you are blue in the face, and tears are still running down your face and the pain is not going away. What then….Doing things for others is nice, but I can tell you that it is not a cure for emotional or physical pain.

            • it is a cure for emotional pain! trust me! this post it’s all about waiting and faith, by your words you sound like you still have much to learn, maybe that’s your lesson after all, maybe God wants for you to see that helping others is a cure for emotional pain, maybe he’s making you wait because he wants for you to start looking at things differently, i’m not at all saying that this is you but a lot of people do nice things for others expecting something in return, they never really do it just out of kindness, in other words they only bless expecting to be bless in return. sometimes in life all it takes it’s for us to start looking at things a little differently and then the blessings will rain and the pain will heal

    • When we try to second guess God, even worse, place an onus on God to give us something we want and have prayed for, when that simply may not be in the plan for our life, we are likely to stumble and stub our toe on the path, or even walk off a cliff.

There are instances in scripture where God told someone something, promised them something, and it may have been a long time coming, but that isn’t at all to be compared to waiting for God to answer our prayers. I don’t think God plays such petty, mean games as to “make us wait” a long time for something we’ve prayed for, asked for, to test or build our faith, or anything else. As Sara observes above, please be careful not to assume “that the Lord made” a woman barren, or a child born damaged, or someone get cancer, so He can test or build our faith, test our patience, or whatever, and expect us to keep waiting forever in hopes He is going to grant whatever we’ve asked.

Our bodies are very complex living organisms, there can many different causes or reasons for fertility problems, birth defects, infant stillbirths and death, or people getting cancer, and dying of that cancer. To “Expect” to be “healed” if we pray hard and often enough, live right and pleasing to God, or in any other was have power to influence God to grant us a favor, and feel guilty if we “give up” when the reality is we’ve just accepted the reality of the situation, is probably the biggest faith killer among all other false teachings common in the church.

Do you really believe those that die in a tornado or car wreck, or of cancer, were not praying? Or weren’t good enough believers? Or lacked enough faith? I’ve known quite a few women with fertility problems, that were never able to get pregnant, or that suffer miscarriages, that were as faithful true believers that prayed with all their hearts as much as anyone. Was God “making them wait” to test or build their faith, even when they eventually passed away at old ages, still without having had a child?

  5. How beautifully put. Now that I am older I can look back and see this is so true!

Thank you and may God bless you always.

  6. Waiting for God is not always what God wants. Blindly hoping for him to give you direction is not his only purpose. He gave you the ability to take action not sit on the sidelines and wait. I pray for you. My preacher stressed to me to never charge being lazy to God. Act now. He will help you. He helped me . amen

    • These men of faith had to wait. In prison, in hiding, being barren. Take action? They had taken action.
Waiting was the only option for them.

Hiding in your room and praying (waiting) for new friends is not taking action.
Overeating and not exercising and praying (waiting) for God to heal your heart disease and give you a healthy, fit body is not taking action.
Desiring a family and trying to conceive month after month is taking action, but God may be telling you to wait.

      • I had a few years of that “funk” time, Rebekah. But – I learned very quickly to rest in it. When life just goes on & it seems like you’re in a fog of depression & wondering when God will feel like responding to you… I felt it ALL… But, I learned a lot from Job (he was my buddy when I was down) about seeing God THROUGH it. I just couldn’t until I MEANT to. I realized that I was in a state of healing from the tragedy that erupted (even by my own stupid choices) & when I did, I decided to trust the God that forgave me. That was when I felt like I was dead every day I lived through it – but, I was at peace because I KNEW that God’s purpose was like a DRs prescription for a disease I was being cured of & lots of spiritual “bedrest” was required. I was being taught to be still, to slow my anxious thoughts, to see PAST what I was feeling. It was the darkest time of my life. Now -God didn’t tell me that I would never wait again after that. I am now OUT of that cave & am healed GLORY TO GOD! The joy has never been greater. But-talk about building faith -WOWEE. I hardly recognize myself. That experience was like DEATH itself and now I’m in ANOTHER holding pattern, but I’m more patient with God processes. I can be still & still be expectant. I can NOT know the purpose because NOW I am SURE of the ONE who gives purpose to ALL the circumstances in my life. I don’t need to see. I don’t need explanations. And the peace is like an everlasting mental vacation despite the gravity of the health issues & emotional turbulence…
It does come to us all.. And I do still struggle with some trust issues. But that faith had to go thru FIRE to just be willing to let God go deeper & heal all the other “stuff” I was afraid to face before. Now -I can fly! Gimme that mountain!! I wrestle him down!! lol -no need for violence. God can just “speak”. and He will when He’s ready & has readied you.

    • I didn’t see anything in this message that suggested waiting means sitting around doing nothing. I’ve been married to the same man for nearly 31 years. I met the Lord 23 years ago and have been praying and waiting for my husband to come to know Christ ever since. As I pray and wait life goes on – I work, I enjoy friends, I shop, I serve in church, I’ve raised my kids, and I’ve loved my husband to the best of my ability. And I wait. I wait for God to act. I wait for Him to draw my husband near. I wait for Him to speak in a way he can hear and respond to. I wait for God to do in my husbands heart and mind that which I am helpless to do. I live, I act, I pray, and I wait.

    • I agree blindly waiting for God to give direction is not his purpose BUT we pray for so many things in the course of our life. It’s not always that God never answers. He does. Yet there are times when we are made to wait. If then we are made to wait it’s because he has a reason and a season for everything that he has created.
You can take an action but when you take an action and end with a bad reaction then it means you need to wait for God and then carry out His action plan. You need to learn to differentiate between your human Spirit and the Holy Spirit.
There is a difference between being lazy and waiting on the Lord.
Above all of these I think we need to encourage one another in spreading love.
      God bless. Jesus loves you.

  7. i can’t even tell you how much your words touched me this morning. I could swear that it was like you and I were having a conversation about my life right now and the very deep personal struggles that I’ve been having over the last couple of years which have culminated in an explosion of crap a few monts ago which left me feeling exactly how you put it – barren, and like God was so, so far away. I’ve spent months trying to spiritually, mentally and emotionally recover myself but the holding pattern that I am stuck in has hindered that and left me in a deep funk that I have been struggling to remove myself from…change needs to happen in my life and I’ve been struggling with the wait for the changes that are to happen (still months and years away) and losing hope. Realizing that there IS purpose for thiis waiting and that no, the waiting isn’t meaningless time wasted or needing to be filled is eye opening. Seeing now how this waiting period may just be the most important time of all (despite not being very enjoyable!) is humbling and gives me a perspective that I have so desperately needed.
To adress a previous commenter – it isn’t about laziness. It isn’t about getting up and taking charge because sometimes even when you ddo that you just wind up spinning your wheels because it isn’t yet time for taking charge. Spinning your wheels is a waste of gas so sometimes turning the car off and waiting until you can get that traction before you start again can be SO important.
So again, I say thank you. Your post today touched me in ways I could never have imagined.

  8. This post reminds me so much of how God gave mana in the wilderness one day at a time. How he tells us to consider the lilies and the fowls of the air… He does take care of us. One day at a time. When He promises us He will open the windows of heaven amd pour out a blessing that there shall be no room to receive it, He does so, opening those windows an inch at a time. Thank you for this post! i hadn’t considered how those men of faith also waited for the promised blessings. fantastic insight.

  9. Maybe I am still waiting for nothing. Because I don’t fully know what I really want and as far as I know God has never given me any desires of my heart and has never spoken to me in any way nor has he promised me anything. At 37 I doubt I’ll be married and I will definetly never have kids. But most of all and most importantly I couldn’t fathom God using me in any way.

    • Hello sister! I know how you feel. I’ve been there before. That is one of the greatest struggle a person could ever handle, “finding our purpose in this world”… Try to explore ( volunteering in helping the needy person, travel, read inspirational books, talk to people ) and you will see and feel that you are needed. That you are created for something that only YOU can do. From there, you will discover your desire, your purpose and goal. Like every snow that falls on the ground, none is the same, and yet each of them is needed in winter. God bless!

    • Kelly,
Have you made it known to God that it is a family you desire and trust him to work that out for you. If you say you are still waiting but not sure on what then The Lord wants to hear from you to tell him what your waiting on. And he does talk to us through the bible . He may be also letting you have time to discover what your talent is and start getting comfortable with it and then ask him to open that door for you. So many overlooked talents are the ones right in front of us. Many are cooking for someone that is under the weather, or sitting with someone while a care sitter can have a day off, help someone so overwhelmed at the thought of spring cleaning not have to do it alone. Give some one a ride to their dr appt if they don’t drive. Get a list from your minister of some members that need some extra encouragement call them or better yet take them a meal. Getting busy doing in the meantime while your waiting it gives God the opportunity to see where he can use your best talents! You will quickly be surprised how quickly doors will open up and during this time asked God to show you these desires of your heart to know which one you need to work more on and where he needs you!
I was in your boat one time and just started getting involved at church and taking my mind off of my problems helped. My husband and I decided to have a child 10 years after he had had a vasectomy. Drs will tell you that there is only about a two year window before scar tissue can close it back off. It took us nine months to get preg and I lost that child at three months. So by this time 1 year had passed so we started right away again, well after 9-10 months later no baby we had all but give up then two months later I was pregnant at 39. Our prayer got answered! And then again at 45 it was answered again, miscarried because by that time I did not think I could get preg anymore so I did not take my progesterone in time and we miscarried . Be specific with what you pray for because you are talking to The Almighty God who can and will do anything to bless his children.

    • Hi Kelly! God can and totally wants to use you in great ways. It may not be in grand ways like those bible examples listed but ways that are equally important to His Heart! I’m 34 and struggle with the thought of having to be single one more day. Due to medical issues, having children is a difficult subject for me too BUT like the article states, this season of waiting is for a reason. Prayers sent your way from Texas!

    • Kelly, never say never. I know how you feel but God does have a plan. I thought the same thing you are thinking then God blessed me. At 39 I met an amazing man and we have been married for 5 yrs. I also have 3 amazing step children. Waiting is never easy and there may be sadness along the way but God blesses us with amazing things even when we don’t think it will happen. Keep your faith in God.

    • Kelly. I know a way God could use you right now. Contact your local Communities in Schools affliate or Big Brother Big Sister and volunteer to be a mentor. There are so many kids out there that just need someone in their life that cares about them. You just uave to commit one hour a week and you will learn so much and be so rewarded.

      • I am 38 ans singe and understand exactly how Kelly feels. Late singleness si one or the biggest and most underestimate suffering in Church.
But yeah, I am FED UP with people who think that a single just should serve more other families who have the joy on having kids or over-busy moms. Do you realize how cruel this is ? You don’t have the right for this and you should serve them ? And who is there when single Women need some help to carry their just bought ikea furniture ? Or when they are sick ? When you are a single, your heart is always empty. None feels it. No child. No husband. You carry everything ALONE. You are burn out by Life and its emotional toughness. You never have relief. Everything, every simple easy step for a couple is complicated for us. So no. Single should ont help families, but families should care for and help single, esepcially single Women. That would be the church.

        • “Myself”, There is a lot of anger in your comment, and I am sure some personal stories. But the TRUE church would be all of us helping each other regardless of our marital status. We all have hardships. They may be different, but neither one of us has it easier. We need to embrace each other as sisters.

          • But Laura, you know *darned well* that most Christian churches see themselves as a “family of families”—–they really do *not* help out the singles. I know you are aware of this because you write that the true church “would be” all of us helping each other, etc. Yes, “would be”….because it’s not that way yet and there’s no sign on the horizon that anything is changing along those lines.

        • People don’t help single women and the older you get the worse it is !The church does seem to overlook and underestimate the emptiness and suffering of single women. You are absolutely right ,the situation should be reversed .Instead of lending a hand with needy situations ,help this one that one ,others should be helping you who is feeling the emptiness on a constant basis with no relief! No one sees it but those who have lived it ,the pain is horrendous! The church out reaches to so many causes but your situation goes unnoticed .Churches focus on the family only to keep families in tact and provide the resources they need to live a holy Godly centered life .Singles are invisible and are just not supported because no one sees the needs and the deep emotional pain unless they have felt it themselves.its time for a change and speaking out is the start of making an underestimated situation noticed by all .Your not bitter my dear you are 100 percent accurate .Blessings

    • Hi Kelly! You’re post really broke my heart. You’re pain is so deep and real. Thank you for being so transparent! I’m a person who struggles with knowing myself and what God has purposed for me. I used to feel I had spent many wasted years when He could have been using me and I would beat myself up for it. Now looking back I see that I was in no way ready for the things I was struggling for! God was preparing me. A book that really helped me is The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. I’ve read it three times now and everything is finally starting to sink in!! Praying for you sister! Praying that God will reveal His purpose for you and give you the desires of your heart!
Psalm 37:3-4 Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
      Angie

    • Hi Kelly,

I was really disheartened to hear your words. Sometimes life gives us lemons, do we look helplessly at the lemons thinking, “I’ll never know what to do with these lemons, they are bitter and so unappealing”. The attitude with which we approach these lemons will determine whether they die untouched or whether we see the potential in them to become so much more. You have great potential, see the juice within the sour attitude you possess and allow God to turn your lemons into lemonade.

  10. I’m reminded of the story where Jesus saw a man, blind from birth. His disciples aked the Master if it was the man’s sin or that of his parents that caused him to be born blind. The Lord answered that neither the man nor his parents had sinned, “…but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.”
This is a wonderful article; however, I don’t believe God ‘makes’ us wait. I don’t think Heavenly Father ‘makes’ us do anything. Rather, he allows us to suffer this mortal experience that His works and purposes for us might be manifest. In the end we see what He is doing because we, His children, ARE His work AND His glory. For our part we must be long suffering, exercise patience, be believing and go about doing good – all of our own free will.

  11. Wait, wait, wait… Sisters in Christ I don’t know if these questions in my mind were already discussed. Please, I need your thoughts and insights about it.
…. How to wait on God? Does God really want us to wait? Or He wants us to take action?

    • Hello Alexis,

This is just my 2 cents on your questions. I believe that many times we equate “waiting” on God to mean sitting and doing nothing. Above all things, God wants us to have faith in Him and His ability to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we could ever ask or think. There are so many different factors that go into why God requires us to “wait” on Him. The bottom line, as the writer has so eloquently pointed out, is to build our faith in Him. While we are waiting on God to move in any area of our lives, we should be constantly seeking the face of God. In seeking Him, He may give us instructions on how to proceed. In some instances, we may not hear anything from God for a season but that does not mean that God is not working on our behalf. In our waiting, we should be praising God and thanking Him for whatever He is getting ready to do in our lives. None of this can take place if we don’t first believe that God has our best interest at heart. I believe that is what waiting on God means. It means that God no matter how you decide to answer me, I am all right with that because I know that all things are going to work out for my good (Romans 8:28). I may not understand it, but I know that I serve a God with infinite wisdom and He knows exactly what I need and when I need it.

      • Thanks Erica for that enlightnement. “In seeking Him, he may give us instructions on how to proceed”
I got you there. God bless you!

  12. Praying is just like the rain dance. When it rains, it’s because we were dancing. When it doesn’t rain, it’s because we haven’t danced enough so we keep dancing. Eventually it’ll rain and we’ll be able to say that it was because we danced.

  13. Good words in general but not fitting for every situation. My son’s wife left the church, started doing drugs and drinking heavily, and now has a new baby with the man she is living with. He is suing for full custody and court has drug on for 16 months. His 2 and 4 year old babies are being abused, neglected, and made to call her boyfriend Daddy and refer to Daddy by his name. Ever seen a 2 year old who loves Jesus sit in the floor and use the F-word? Or tell you how the boyfriend held him down while Mama beat him? Or a 4 year old girl tell you she swims naked with her Mama’s boyfriend? I can wait forever for all my other prayers to be answered, but our prayers to put these babies back in a Christian home need to be answered now. Thanks for reading and prayers PLEASE! Also prayers for my son, who is hanging onto God through all of this.

    • This is a very difficult situation specially that little kids were involved. I pray for them. The work of darkness will never prevail. Let’s not lose hope. Everytime misseries ,doubts, hopelessness and struggles are attacking, I’m leaning to the promise of God from the book of Revelations 21:4.. AND GOD SHALL WIPE AWAY ALL TEARS FROM THEIR EYES; AND THERE SHALL BE NO MORE DEATH, NEITHER SORROW, NOR CRYING, NEITHER SHALL THERE BE ANYMORE PAIN, FOR THE FORMER THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY.
      God bless us!

    • Carolyn please turn in the mother and boyfriend, and don’t take no for an answer. I will pray for those babies. Keep reminding them that God loves them.

    • Hi Carolyn, urgently report both mother and her boyfriend. There is no need to wait for taking action in child abuse situations.

    • Father I come to you in the Mighty Name above all names JESUS CHRIST I ask for Carolyn prayers be met with urgency at this time. Have your way Lord in this situation. I place a thick hedge of protection around these children Lord that NO WEAPON FORMS AGAINST THEM SHALL PROSPER. DEVIL YOU ARE A LIAR AND YOU HAVE ALREADY BEEN. DEFEATED. THE LORD JESUS REBUKES YOU & YOU WILL TAKE UR HANDS OFF OF THEM AS OF NOW IN JESUS NAME. I COVER THEM WITH THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST FROM THE CROWN OF THEIR HEADS TO THE BOTTOM OF THEIR FEET. THANK YOU LORD FOR THE VICTORY IN THEIR LIVES. IN JESUS NAME AMEN

  14. Thank you for this post. Years of a chronic illness, then 2 more diagnoses within a short period -3 painful chronic conditions.Marriage troubles, also for years. So many tears, so many prayers, so much emotional and physical pain…Yet God has said no not now, to healing of either my body or marriage. I don’t know if healing will ever happen on this earth but this post helped me see that God is still working and He cares. Coming up in this post is evidence God cares, per I believe HE directed me here. ~Blessings~

  15. I talk to God daily. I’m being serious. Last night he really upset me but despite that he’s a really great “person”. I say person because somehow he can be anyone he wants. Weird, but hey he’s God.
Anyway. God exists but so does Science. So if you can’t have a baby, there is probably a good reason for it. the reason is science but ultimately, by design, God… If that makes any sense. The good part though is there is no hell, and we reincarnate through “time” to perfect our spirit. There is no death, and life is and will always be beautiful. All of the things you don’t have, all of the hardships you face may have been a spiritual choice before you came into this being. The hardships are not to hurt you, but are chosen because they lead you down a path of spiritual maturity. Keep pressing forward, learn your lessons and don’t give up.

    • “If you can’t have a baby there must be a good reason for it?” I want you to understand that those of us who struggle with infertility could be deeply, irreparably harmed by those words. I earnestly and lovingly pray that you would 1) Come to see that your statement is not correct and 2) Please do not ever say that directly to someone. I suspect your heart has been hurt at some point, but I know God is there waiting for you to reach out for healing. Fortunately, I know that God does not decree that there are those of us who don’t deserve motherhood and therefore withholds it from us. I believe that God already knows our sons and daughters and they will arrive in their time. If I had been blessed with a pregnancy in the first year of trying, I would not have ended up with our son, who arrived after three years. We have not been able to conceive again and God put on our hearts to wait for Him to send us our next baby through adoption. We are thrilled with this, but it is very difficult to wait patiently; again, I know that He already knows exactly who our child is, and that child will arrive in our arms when God decides it is time. Prayers to you and all the best.

    • I agree with you “Myself” as I am now a single mum to 4 beautiful kids,, but life became a bigger burden to me since my husband passed away from cancer, and that my friend is something at least you can be spared from, don’t ever get married, one day you won’t have your husband no longer and you will feel the UTTER despair that I feel, every day. Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids, I love life, but at the same time I have a huge empty hole in my heart that no one can fix. It will never be the same again. And life has become a burden and no one understands, no one gets how hard it is for me. Oh I don’t have parents either the passed away, and also my in laws aren’t around as they’re all dead as well, so no one to help out when I need it…

  16. Ya sure ok.. And that’s why he makes innocent children be born to crack hears and in abusive and deplorable situations. That’s why animals are put in abusive homes and have no voice. Ya God does that to make those innocent babies and animals yearn for him… Babies and animals that have no thought about “God” and the fact that he “exists” until they’re brainswashed into believing what the others around them believe. If this quoted makes you feel good inside then that’s great. But to say God makes innocent and otherwise unknowing living beings wait when they are born and or brought into situations they have no voice to get out of… Does not sit well with me. Is anyone really too kin about these types of situations when they read is stuff or are they only applying it to their lives… Give me a break.

    • You are right sister. What is God doing with those innocent babies born in third world countries especially Africa? Why were they born only to suffer? What is God’s purpose to them. Why are some people so rich and so poor? Why can’t we just be born in a rich, beautiful and peaceful country? What a sinful and cruel world we have. WHY? WHERE IS GOD? IS HE REAL?
Why do we need to keep questioning God without questioning ourselves? Why do we keep on blaming Him in all the bad things happening to us? Do we think we could be happy without experiencing sadness first? Can we say that we were full without being hungry? Can we be strong without experiencing trials that make us strong? Can we say that God is good if HE spoiled us by giving everything? LIFE IS HARD BUT WORTH LIVING.

    • Life is not fair and it downright messy I have to believe it wasn’t designed to be without pain and sorrow , BUT He will never leave you or forsake you … John Piper says at any given time some people are suffering while still others are on tiptoe happiness …. The World is a horrible , beautiful place ( both at the same time) .. Just knowing God gives us free will , and our soul longs for Him when we choose His Path … Sets us free to know He loves us … He loves His Children ….

  17. I struggled many years before because i really wanted to work abroad to help my family . Every endeavour i take, i always failed… I’ve been thinking that maybe God is punishing me because i’m a sinner. My faith to him hasn’t change even my prayers was not answered..Perhaps, my dedication to Him is not enough and really not doing something to delight His heart.. I cried a lot and asked Him to give me a chance. Then He finally answered my prayer, that is why im very grateful to Him and all the blessings I received..I had one more wish though. And that is to find the right one for me, whom i can spend the rest of my life with. I trust God’s proper timing and I believe He will give it to me soon…God bless us all…

  18. Thanks for your perspective. After years of chronic fatigue and praying for solutions I finally came to figure, “This may be as good as it gets. How can I best live my life and serve God and my family now? Not Someday?” I still struggle, but also have been blessed with much relief. Thanks, again.

  19. This is for Carolyn: you have the power to save your Grandaughter. Call the authorities and have her checked out. They can examine her to see if she is being molested. What he is doing in the tub with her is inappropriate. Keep calling CPS and ask other people to do that until someone listens to you. The court did not allow my grandsons mother to tell him his dad was Bryce not daddy. She was orderd to stop or face contempt of court. For the woman who thinks God afflicts us: it is the devil who afflicts us. He walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he can devour. He is the great afflictor. He walks to and fro in and on this earth.

  20. Perhaps someone can explain this to me. If God is almighty and all knowing and has a divine plan, then what is the purpose of praying? Do you really think that you are important enough that your whim will convince God to change his divine plan?

    • Unless we ASK, there is no reason to believe. When we ask and are willing to believe that God hears, AND, that He will answer our prayers, our faith starts to grow. If God just looked down and said, “Oh, she needs healing, (or a job; a place to live; a car that runs, etc.)”, and then provided for that “need”, we would never have any need to trust Him. By having to “ask” for something (from any one), we automatically have a tendency to believe we will receive. God teaches us to learn to trust Him, as we see Him answering our prayers. By talking to Him, in the first place—to do that “asking”, we start to communicate with Him. He wants us to communicate with Him on a daily basis. Walking and talking with my Lord helps me to grow as His child, learning just how much He loves me. Yes, sometimes we do have to wait. We have become so impatient, wanting what we want, right now. I don’t know of anything in His Word that says we will get instant gratification. His Word says to “Wait upon the Lord.” We need to practice that more!

    • You know what Jeremy…..I have had the same thoughts and have made the same points directly to God. What is the point in me praying if you have already soverignly made up your mind what things are going to be and how it is going to go. I have prayed for 22 years to be healed from Multiple Sclerosis, I have prayed and prayed to have a husband and children….I am 42, single, and now moving into menopause. Not one time has one heart’s desire that I have had every been handed to me….Why should I pray?

  21. these type of articles make me sick. this one in particular is just self indulgent and generalized rubbish topped off with the obligatory glorification of God. There is no substance to what is written, and the worst bit is that people just lap it up and encourage the terrible and thoughtless writing this author has bestowed upon the world

    • Why are you even reading this article if you think it’s rubbish? Just because you don’t understand it that doesn’t make it rubbish or wrong. If your going to critize others for their beliefs because you have nothing better to do then you are nothing more than a bully. What makes you think that is right? I’m sorry you don’t see the truth and reason for this article. Maybe one day you will and I pray that you do.

  22. Sometimes He waits because everything in your life has been building up to that exact point in time and His waiting makes the puzzle fit in a way that you and others can see it was HIM and HIM all along. The delay for His glory!

  23. I mean, the irony of what i literally just posted on my fb and seeing this article is beyond miraculous and weird and obvious that God is speaking RIGHT to me. It’s almost creepy but in a good God way.
    Wow.

  24. Gods Word, the Bible says He is ALWAYS YES AND AMEN! God does NOT make us wait. He wants to bless us IMMEDIATELY. The proof is Jesus’ miracles they all happened IMMEDIATELY. When we don’t get our desires immediately it is either because 1. They aren’t in line with God’s Word or 2. We have messed it up to a degree that He has to fix other things to get the blessings to us.

  25. Thanks for this post, My husband and i were married year 2008 here in the Philippines,He left while i was 2 months pregnant and planned to bring me to USA so we can be together with our unborn child, but things didn’t work as we planned. He was laid off from his job and wasn’t able to come back for our 1st child’s birth cos his income is just enough to take care of two households.Year 2012 he decide to live here in the Philippines to meet his unseen child and to be with us.I got pregnant again but had complications and the baby was born premature with infection. Everything that we have was gone, all our savings and everything thing that it is inside our house was sold so we can take care of the medical bills. We struggled so much after the baby was out from the hospital,we literally have nothing but rice and soy sauce in our table every meal. He decided to go back to USA so he can take care of us better, and planned to take care of my papers again so we can live with him in the US.
He was able to get a job and take care of us, he came up with a money to file my papers and our kids, i was so excited even our children was so happy. We waited and waited but after a few months and we haven’t heard anything from USCIS yet, he decided to call their hotline and to find out that my papers was missing.I was so disappointed and was so bitter and blame everything to God why he won’t let us be together as a family. We are 7 years married now and most of that 7 years was spent thousand miles away.
Now, we need to re-file the papers and spend more money that we don’t have. I am hopeless, before i could see a light at the end of the tunnel but now it is all dark again.
But after I’ve read this article it gave me so much hope and comfort. I don’t know what God’s plan for me and our family but i will wait for a miracle.

  26. I really don’t understand why those who don’t believe in God are even reading/commenting on this post. How did you even find, “The Praying Woman?” if you have no interest in God and faith to begin with? Do you have nothing better to do with your time than try to tear down others? I’m sure there are lots of sites for non-believers. Why not, “socialize” with people with whom you find some commonality? Live and let live.

    • THANK YOU. It is so frustrating when one is reading all the post, looking for inspiration and these people have to find hate for GOD. It is absolutely terrible. If you do not believe, then move on; why even bother reading this.

      Thank you!

  27. I was contemplating an planning on ending my life soon over prayers not being answered over financial situations, family problems and emotional and physical pain, and then this article was the first thing I saw when turning the computer on and it has changed my life. I always felt even after years of pray that God was going to answer my prayers if I waited but have gotten so emotionally drained and sad just decided this weekend that it was never going to happen and did not want to live any longer, and the this article appears that was as if it had been written just for me, Thank you Lord for putting this article within my grasp and letting me realize that your love is still there for a unworthy Christian like myself. I needed it today.

  28. Trust definitely is not lazy. Faith and trust take willpower and determination, even tho they are paradoxically through rest.
Giving up could be considered lazy. Waiting on God in trust and faith is hard work sometimes! Just like lifting weights it’s an exercise that we must do. That is why it is not easy for us friends!

  29. This brought tears to my eyes this morning as I have been so down about God’s direction in my life lately. With a passion to serve God’s people in a big way, a dream inside of me waits and burns. It’s been a barren desert of purification for the past several years so I know he is working on me.Even though he slay me,yet will I praise him and trust in him.I long for more of him and less of me.

  30. What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
    -James 2:14-17

…AGAIN, faith without WORKS is DEAD! God does not expect you to just wait for your everyday prayers to be answered. If you KNOW what you want, and you KNOW you have the tools necessary to get it, God expects you to ACT on your prayers! Take them as coping signals for your problems and see about actually DOING something to solve them, because that’s EXACTLY what God created you for, THE DUTY TO OVERCOME THE WORLD!

  31. This is absolutely what I needed to read. This randomly came across my facebook at the perfect time. God is making me wait to be a testimonial for others! Praise God!

  32. I have to point out that Joseph waited 13 years before he was second to the Pharoah and David spent 17 years in the desert waiting to become king. Not to be nit-pickety but these are the correct numbers.

  33. If such a god existed then he is a narcissistic, sadistic, ego driven bastard. I cannot believe what I have just read and all because he wants proof that you worship him. This article claims that he CAN indeed answer your prayers instantly but no he’ll keep you waiting in torture, pain and torment to make sure you love him. The only thing I worship is logic, common sense & truth. Thank science for reality!

    • Why are you commenting under “The Praying Woman”, when indeed you are not a praying women. Believe what you want but you do not need to leave your terrible comments under this article, if it is not what you believe.

    • Susan,
You could never be more wrong. Let me ask you this: can you understand joy without pain? How can you know what joy, happiness, and peace if you don’t know what it is like to struggle? How can you apreciate those things? God doesn’t make us struggle. He allows things into our lives so we can grow. You can’t build muscle if you don’t stretch yourself. Sure, it might hurt but you are stronger afterwords. In order for diamonds to be made, coal has to go through intense fire and presure. The end result is beauty that shines. And don’t forget that God is not the only supernatural being. The devil is the one that causes harm. But Romans 8:28 say “God works all things for the good of those who love him.” What the devil uses to harm us God uses to grow us. I pray that you will one day see that God is not out to get you. He loves you and wants you to know that more than you cpuld ever know. You are his child.

  34. Point taken, sometimes you have to wait. i have gone through infertility hardship the last few years and one thing I have learned is that you cannot plan everything and that you need to be patient and give things put of hand.

However, what if God does not only make you wait, but will not give you children at all???? Why would He do that? Sorry ladies, but this is the part where I really cannot understand what purpose I would still have in life if I cannot conceive.
    Why would God do that?

    • I can relate to your experience in a similar manner. I felt at times that God has taken things away from me, things that were so dear to my heart. Everything that I seemed to set my heart on for my life had been taken from me. But this is when I realized something. When He would take something away, I had to find somewhere else to put my heart in. When I couldn’t find anything, I had to put it on Him. Ultimately, I think that is what He needs us to do. We need to trust our heart in him. Knowing this, no matter what may happen to us or occur around us, it will have no effect on us if we are founded upon Christ who is unchanging. He is our sure foundation, He will not move, and in Him we can trust. As for what your purpose is, that is a question you must take to Him. If having kids is not in His plan for you, He must have something else in mind. I promise you that even though it is hard to believe, His plan for you is still very great. He knows what you can do, what you are capable of, and He has a mission that only you can do. Trust Him and take your position.

  35. So his reason for innocent starving children serves a purpose? INNOCENT children, without sin, painfully enduring agony and grief… No, sorry, not buying it. What kind of sick, twisted individual could say that was “All in God’s plan”… It takes a psychotic, self-centered, egotistical individual to forcefully employ on something he so adamantly adores to “worship me or die” No thank you

    • There is such a greater plan! Our existence is like a huge puzzle and we can only see one piece of it. We may not fully understand why there is hurt, pain, suffering, and heartache in this life. But I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that God loves those starving children just as much as you and me. He hears their cries and He will compensate with all of their hurt and pain. I know that we are His children and as His children, He is always mindful of us. We may suffer, we may hurt, we may experience pain, but He is there beside us every step of the way, we just need to turn to Him and He will make us whole. I know this because He has done so in my life. I know that He loves me, for I am His.

    • Hi Jo, I do believe in Jesus, but I do not believe that poverty and sickness is part of his plan at all. When sin entered the world, it brought with it all of that pain and suffering like poverty, sickness, abuse, depression, etc. That’s why sin is such a serious thing; it actually encourages the suffering in the world. Sometimes, I really struggle with the fact that God doesn’t just reach down and save those starving children and heal the sick, but He is willing to if you have faith. Also, God loves to use us to help others in that way. So, I’m with you; I refuse to buy into the idea that the suffering of the innocent serves a purpose except for the devil’s purpose.

  36. Abraham, from the Bible, has become my hero this past year. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. As a member, there is an opportunity for the young men and young women to be able to serve a mission (where they will leave home for 18-24 months and preach the gospel). I have always planned on serving a mission and now, being nineteen, the time for me to serve would be here. However, I was getting feelings and impressions that maybe I was not suppose to serve a mission at this time. This thought scared me because it was one of my greatest desires. This is when I came across the story of Abraham in Genesis 22 where the Lord commands Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his only son. Abraham had been promised many things through his son Isaac and now the Lord was asking him to give it all up (or so it seemed). I realized the parallel in my life, my Heavenly Father was asking me to give up serving a mission even when it meant the world to me at the time. I was crushed, heart broken, and felt betrayed. BUT, the Lord spared Abraham’s son and prepared another way. I have had to trust the Lord would do the same for me. I have accepted not serving a full time mission right now in my life, but I know that my loving Heavenly Father will allow me to serve a mission, I just have to wait on His timing. God would never leave us or forsake us because He loves us, we are His children. He is ever mindful of you and all that is in your heart. Turn to Him, trust in Him, and He will not ever let you down!!

  37. My experience with GOD

I want to share my experience with GOD. Last April I was admitted due to severe cough and on and off fever. When I looked at the wall of my room I saw a painting of Jesus holding the head of a sick girl. I was suddenly felt emotional that time and I repented and cried asking for forgiveness. Later that night, my Mom came and I hugged her, cried again, and told her all of the sins that I’ved done. She just smiled at me and did not say anything at all. I also called my company that I will be cancelling my case against them for illegal termination and its very light in my heart knowing that I released all my anger and hatred. I also confessed to my partner that I cheated. After I was discharged from the hospital, I suddenly realized that my tongue was moving on its own fast. It was like my tongue was cleaning my mouth and teeth. It also removed my dead lip skin. I was amazed! Later that night when I was lying in my bed, suddenly my hands are moving on its own, then my feet its like doing a massage on me and it really felt good, do deep breathing, then my hands lift up and form like the hands of Jesus “like the peace sign” and still cleaning my teeth. They said that it was the holy spirit descended on me. This happened everyday for how many days. In my mind I asked why are you doing this? He said that I must be clean before presenting to GOD. I even asked what should I look like in heaven and he answered, you will be at your 6 years old. I was so happy knowing that I will be a kid in heaven. After 5 days I was admitted again to the hospital and thats the time that I lost my sense to reality. My family said that I went crazy and did horrible stuffs. I removed my IVF and so blood spits out on my bed. They called a psychiatric doctor to have me check. The doctor told my family that my psychotic behavior was due to drug overdose and lack of sleep. That time what I only remember was that I saw a very white light. Then I heard a voice saying if I would like to rest with HIM or return to my state. My first answer was ” I want to rest Father” but I changed my mind because of my Mom. Then I woke up like nothing happened. I was shocked what I did that time when I was having moment with GOD. My family told me everything after I was discharged again. The doctor said that I have nodules and lumps both of my lungs. We had a repeat x-ray after 2 weeks and found out that the lumps are gone and my lungs are already clear. Its a miracle! My family witnessed this and they were so amazed and blessed. I was also blessed too because without this wonderful experience, I will be lost forever. I forgot GOD after I watched ancient aliens and started questioning his existence. I want to share this to everyone because I want to tell you all that GOD is real. He really is. No matter what religion we have, we only have one GOD. Repent, forgive and release all your hatred and anger before its too late. We never know when will Jesus 2nd coming to judge the living and the dead. While we are still on earth pls do what GOD wants us to do. Thank you for your time reading this and GOD bless you.

  38. “Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If in my name you ask me[a] for anything, I will do it.

    —Jesus of Nazareth

Do you remember asking Jesus for the BIG stuff when you were a little kid? You asked Jesus to give you three ponies ( a black one, a brown one, and a white one) for Christmas. You asked Jesus to bring back your favorite GI Joe after he washed down the street drain in a storm. When your dog, Tippy, died you asked Jesus to bring him back from the dead. When you heard about all the starving children in the world, you prayed to Jesus to leave an envelope with one million bucks inside on your doorstep the next morning so you could feed all those starving kids.

So why don’t you ask Jesus for the BIG stuff anymore? He said to ask for anything and he would do it!

Answer: When we get a little older we realize that Jesus didn’t really mean what he said. What he meant to say was this,

“If you ask anything in my name, I will do it…if…it is my will to do it. If it isn’t my will, I won’t.”

So as we get older we stop asking Jesus for the big things, the hard things, because we have learned that Jesus never answers those prayers. Ok, maybe once in a great while Jesus answers a big or hard prayer but it is always something that could have happened by chance anyway, isn’t it? Even really rare things can happen by chance. But Jesus never resurrects Grandpa or Grandma from the dead, no matter how hard we pray, does he? Jesus never reattaches a severed limb from an amputee, does he?

No, Jesus doesn’t answer those prayers. That is asking Jesus for just a little too much, isn’t it, dear Christian? That is why when you get older you only ask Jesus for the easy stuff: To bless your food. To give you a “nice day”. To keep your kids safe.

And when it is time to go to bed at night, you get down on your knees by your bed and you ask Jesus to bless everyone in your life; you thank him for having let you and your children live one more day…and then you fall asleep into your pillow…to wake up in the morning…to repeat the same prayer…full of easy requests, so you don’t ask too much of Jesus…who promised to give you anything that you asked for.

But, maybe you’re not asking Jesus for too much. Maybe the reason Jesus doesn’t answer the big or the hard prayer requests is because Jesus can’t hear you. Jesus can’t hear you…because Jesus is dead.

Dear Christian: You are an adult now. Just as you stopped believing in imaginary beings called Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy, it is time to stop believing in and praying to an ancient man/god who died 2,000 years ago. The “Virgin Birth”, the “Resurrection”, etc., are ancient folk tales. Jesus doesn’t answer your prayer requests any more than Santa and the Tooth Fairy answered your requests to them when you were a kid.

It’s a silly superstition and nothing more, friend. The fact that Jesus doesn’t answer your “big” prayers is proof.

    • Gary, there is evil in this world. Jesus is the Creator, He made us, He intended great and wonderful things for us. He died for us so that no more sacrifices would have to be made. You’re playing a chess game and you just won, before you make your last move your opponent flips the game over in anger, and tries to shatter all the pieces. You’ve already won, your last move is already written, will already happen. But your opponent will continue to shatter the pieces although the inevitable is still happening – while you glue the pieces together.
That is a poor fragment of an analogy of what God is doing. Keep asking for these amazing things, keep studying the Bible. Go ahead, study other teachings from other gods and see why your Creator loves you the most. See the differences. See the proof. Dear Gary, you are an adult. You see the shattered pieces, and think that’s proof that God doesn’t exist? Or maybe proof that evil does exist, and if there’s one against us, who is for us? Dear Gary, don’t think for even a heartbeat that Jesus isn’t there with those children who are suffering, that He doesn’t share your anger when someone hurts you, our purpose is to develop a relationship with One whose opponent is trying to separate us forever out of jealousy. If you run, Jesus will chase you, His heart will break with yours, and He will work with you to help you overcome all this. You are not doing yourself or anyone any favors by looking at the proofs of evil and saying that’s why love doesn’t exist. Pain has an adversary. There is a reason. Dear Gary, go find out.

  39. This is funny.

The waiting time that extends to years and years of praying and hoping with no answer is what made me question his existence.

  40. […] The waiting period of our life can be the most important time in our life. God makes us wait to build our faith and dependence on Him. He could answer the prayers we’ve been paying every night for years in a second, but He purposefully chooses not to—and it’s not up to us to understand why. Rather, we just need to trust in Him. Bachinsky eloquently relays this message in her blog titled, “When God Makes You Wait.” I recommend you check it out by clicking here. […]

  41. this has been so encouraging to me! I have read this several times, over and over again! I am in the “waiting” phase and this gives me so much hope!! Thank you for sharing this!

  42. this has been so encouraging to me! I have read this several times, over and over again! I am in the “waiting” phase and this gives me so much hope!! Thank you for sharing this!

  43. this has been so encouraging to me! I have read this several times, over and over again! I am in the “waiting” phase and this gives me so much hope!! Thank you for sharing this!

  44. This is amazing! Thank you for putting things into a biblical perspective by providing these examples. It's an incredible follow up and confirmation with what I feel the Holy Spirit was telling me the other night as I was on the floor surrendered in prayer…for hours. He told me He is there- always has been and always will be. He IS working. He told me not to even focus on what I see (or don't see) and that I need to keep my mind on the visions He's given me over the past 9 months. I've come to understand that there's a massive difference between REALITY (God's reality) and REAL LIFE (only what we see & experience). I am believing for His miraculous breakthrough…looking forward to what lies ahead and forgetting what is behind. Praise God! :)

    • Thank you for a Right Now word. May God continue leading you to send inspiring and true encouragement. I love such blessings. Yes, I will wait. My motto has been, “No matter how long it takes, I’ll wait.” God is faithful even if we’re not. He can’t go back on His word; He never have and He never will.
God bless you. Keep recording and know God is with you.

  45. I don’t even understand this bull. He MAKES YOU WAIT?! With people like me he waits to help them letting them drown in sorrow till they end up killing themselves?! Basically making everyone suffer! I have prayed and prayed throughout every day for help and forgiveness but I’ve never once felt him or anything I’ve always ended up crying myself to sleep. No one even knows if the bible is flipping real. You gave no proof some old dude wrote it. It could all be a total hoax… Plus with all the new remaking of he bible even if it did exist it would no longer be original considering half of it could very well be different. Unless you can prove him CORRECTLY through science then I’ll believe. And yes you could say I’m more than angry. I’ve been asking for help all my life but have received nothing in return. I’m officially done with any stupid religion

    • He makes us wait in order for it to be the right time. Sometimes when we think we are ready for something when we aren’t, but God knows for sure if we are. Sometimes he is making us wait to prepare us for what is to come. Sometimes he doesn’t answer our prayers because he has greater things planned or knows that the thing we’ve prayed for isn’t right for us. I like to think of him like a father figure. If a child asks for something we as parents think it through, make sure it’s for the best of the child before we give it to them. If we think something is better then we will tell them to wait until the other thing comes available. I know in a time of heartache and disappear it is hard to believe in something or someone you can’t touch or feel. My advice to you is to look at and read Psalms and ask questions. There is nothing wrong with questioning things. That is how you learn about God and the Bible. I hope and pray that you find what you are looking for and that God shows you his love and grace!!

      • Hi, I am in my 50’s and have been trying for years to get a suitable woman for my wife. I have tried lots of ideas, The women didn’t want me after just a few dates , that seemingly I was lucky to get even that….. Am tired of waiting on God or having patience as my preacher friends have told me, Lucky them or blessed by God for their wife, But no blessing for me….. What does someone say to that? I am out and about enough, just nothing…..

    • Hi Kimberly, I’m not trying to change your mind with this reply, I just wanted to address some of the points that you’ve made. First of all, I am sorry about your situation, and I truly wish that kind of suffering wasn’t a part of your life. But I’d like to talk about faith because faith goes beyond what we can prove in the physical realm. There are many unanswered questions surrounding science and why things are the way they are, but as I’m sure you’re probably aware, we live in a broken world. There is sin, sickness, poverty, abuse, discrimination, and many more atrocities in this life, and sometimes it’s extremely hard to look past it all and believe in a God that loves and cares for us the way that Jesus does. However, Jesus has promised an eternal life, but the Bible also promises us that we will have suffering in this life because of the sin of the world. Recognizing that Jesus has paid for that sin by dying for us and using this life, even with its suffering, to praise Him through it all, we will someday reach the day when we go to Heaven and there will be no more pain or sickness or sorrow. I just wanted to encourage you that God loves to heal and help us, but He does so when our faith is sufficient. When you accept Jesus, He gives you authority over your circumstances. I would truly encourage you to give Jesus another chance, and instead of angrily pleading for help and blessings, speak in authority. For example, if you are struggling with sorrow and depression, shout “I have joy in Jesus’ name. I do not accept sorrow. I do not accept these sorrowful circumstances.” I know it may sound silly, but “Amen” actually means “So be it” as if we are calling those things into action.

      • This is not accurate…There are many people who have *more than* “sufficient faith” and yet they will not see any healing in this lifetime. For some people, that’s just the way it is. And it’s no criticism of God to say this…it’s just the truth. There are beautiful godly people who suffer from paralysis, etc. and despite wonderful acceptance and mountains of faith, they will probably *not* see healing in this lifetime. On the other side of eternity, hopefully…but not always in this lifetime…yes, even if they have “sufficient faith.”

  48. These target your abs so well you is going to be sore for that first week.
These are some of the best ab exercises that can be done
to develop hard six pack abs. Sleep deprivation is additionally connected to several health conditions,
    including heart problems.

  49. Its amazing how people blame God for the things that go wrong in their lives when most of the time, they are to blame as a result of bad decisions or a lack of wisdom and also giving place to the devil. Jesus said the devil came to steal, kill and destroy but He came to give you life. The Bible also says God anointed Jesus and He went about doing good. God is a good God, why will He give you a child and turn around to kill the child, that is inconsistent with His nature. The trouble with a lot of Christians is that they have refused to renew their minds with God’s Word and they don’t know Him. The devil is responsible for the trouble you face and not God. And Jesus said He has given you authority over all the ability of the devil. You are to rebuke the devil and run him out of your life. Quit blaming God and stand on your rights in Christ. Also look for a church where you are taught the accurate Word of God not a place where you are taught based on mans experienice.

  50. hello beautiful and God loving women. yesterday i read the article and found it very disturbing, thou its very important to realize it is very unhuman-like to come up with this kinds of answers. now most of what we do is of course to read the word, listen to it from Our church, television program etc, but like we can see, this stories are at a very personal level. it almost makes a person who attempts to provide answers proud-like. so what i would like to share however is a concept called “obedience,. obedience as we think about it is not only the obedience to God, but obedience to husbands[wives submit under your…..], while the world aggressively promotes rights of women, a right for a woman for divorce, a right of a woman to turn her man down if she doesn’t feel like making love, the equality between men and women. it is spiritual to realize that all of that is really against the word of God. a woman does get blessed not just by praying or fasting too much etc, buy obeying her husband. most present day women are anti-obedient to men. since this is a command from God it can very easily bring disfavor to women who defy the principle. my faith is that if a Christian woman faces a challenge of disobedience to her husband, a little shift in a step of faith(to change from disobedience to obedience) can do wonders, it can open closed wombs, put miscarriage at a distance.

  51. What a beautiful biblical inspiration and story,God bless you,i have been praying and waiting and taking action and struggle and do anything i could, but may be i have to wait,i haven’t married yet also because i don’t have a job and didn’t have a steady job,i don’t know why i have to wait, but God knows why,for those who are angry and hate God in this comments,i’m telling you i did that and still doing that sometimes when i fall, but i never stop seeking Him and His help and His forgiveness, may be i don’t know that God loves me and that’s the reason why i mad at Him when what i have been praying for is still unanswered,so the point is just wait for the Lord,if you want to cry you can cry and seek His face and try to please Him,may be one day He will answer your prayer on His time and it would be on the right and perfect time

  52. Well then there are many of us good men out there that are still Single as i speak which many of us are Not single by choice since today there are much more women that are very high maintenance, independent, selfish, spoiled, and very greedy now which is a very good reason as to why many of us men are Single. And we really have No reason to blame ourselves at all since many women today want the Best and won’t settle for Less.

  53. Things haven’t been easy for me. I feel like I take 3 steps forward and 4 steps back at times. I have been married… divorced… and am dating… but want SO desperately to have a family… I’m 35. I feel like my time is running out. All I have wanted for years is to have a family. To be with “the one” for the rest of my life… and share the experiences involved with a family… camping, traveling, loving, “making memories” as my mom always says… and love life. I often feel so alone… and have so many questions… and ask God WHY … all the time… and pray for his support and guidance…I and often question why I am still single… why he has chosen this path… or “what am I doing wrong???” I’m a great person… Loving, caring, forgiving, understanding… My faith has strengthened every year through the support of a great group of women… and 2 friends in particular who continue to support me. I reconnected with one last night… I needed that… I don’t remember when, but I must have clicked on a link to read this post, but never did… I had deep discussions with my boyfriend tonight… whom I love (or I guess I think I do… who knows?– I’ve messed up before!!?? :( ) and disagreements. I was explaining myself, but got cut off… then he got angry and wouldn’t listen to my explanation… because he had predetermined I was wrong and he was right… he wasn’t listening… this isn’t the first time this has happened… then he says he doesn’t like the attitude. I try to explain… but I still feel like I’m always the one who seems to be “wrong.” I know he is learning and working on himself… but I still don’t know what to do… and then, while browsing the internet at campers for whatever reason, I look to the top of my computer and see this tab… and here I am… in tears… I needed this. I tried to close this tabs 2-3 times yesterday, but it wouldn’t close… :) I needed this… I feel recentered and refocused… I’ve got this… thank you everyone, and thank you Jesus for your message. I hear you.

  54. I needed this…I know he is telling me “no” today, so each day I will wait upon him until he tells me “yes” or is preparing me for a life of “no”. Either way I know that he has my best interest at heart and no matter the decision, my happiness and joy is in him.

  55. I desperately needed to hear this!! And every word spoke to me! It seems like I’ve been praying and waiting for years for a husband, my own kids, my own family and a strong purpose in life and in Gods kingdom and as I keep getting older and nothing is happening and more doors are being closed than opened, it’s hard to keep hope. When is God going to come through with these strong desires of my heart?? But thank you for reminding me amazing people in the Bible had to wait too and this season of waiting is important. It’s a true testament of my faith and I am better for it. He has something better planned for me and there are deep lessons to be learned on the way. He isn’t punishing me. God is here and He understands and cares. And it’s in His timing, not mine and this is teaching me patience like I never knew before. Embrace the process.

  56. Wow Never in my life had I ever thought of faith this way and thinking of it, it makes me feel so bad and how ungrateful can be, to think that because the lord makes us wait for soemtimes two or three months we/I feel like dying during the wait time and feel that I can’t it do anymore and feel like giving up. To think that that these men of God waited for 10 or even 100 years to receive a miracle or answer to their prayer wow God is good!!!! it just makes me realize that i have to wait confidently in him because i know he will do it

  58. Hello! everyone out here,I am James William  from Portland Oregon United state. It has been my desire to help people out with their problems no matter how little my contribution may be.

As regards to the promise i made to BABA ARUOSA if he could help me get back my girlfriend,i’m using this means to fulfill my promise and also let everybody know there’s solution to your problem no matter how difficult you think it is okay.

I loved a girl for more than 2 years and she told me she was going to marry me.But she would change her mind and tell me she didn’t love me anymore and was seeing a guy, which i found out.I begged her to accept me and also tried every means possible to make her know i can’t live without her because i really love her but she would pay deaf ears to me.

We were working in the same company and each time i see her,i wish all this weren’t happening. This pain continued till a friend of mine led me to BABA ARUOSA whom he told me was very extremely powerful and has helped with a problem.

Soon as i contacted him,i knew he was the exact answer to my solution because i felt his powers from his carefully selected words and calmness.I explain all that happened to me and he told me what to do.I did as i was instructed and never doubted him.To my greatest surprise what i felt was almost impossible within the twinkle of an eyes was over.

She called me pleading for my forgiveness for how she has treated me and that she loves me so much and will never cheat on me again and will marry me.And from that moment till now all we’ve been experiencing is happiness in our relationship. We’ll be getting married soon……..lol

I would advice anyone with problem to contact him via email : [email protected] for his help.

  59. Thank you for the reminder.
I get crazy waiting for God to answer prayers, and it conforts me all God’s men had to wait. Can I mention  Habakkuk too? The book opens with “how long Lord?”. I love this book and I’d even more love to ressemble Habakkuk at the end of his book.

  60. Thank you.  I hopped on google because my heart aches of waiting.  I don’t know why I went to google because things on the internet are rarely encouraging – and even more rarely encouraging from a Christian perspective.  I needed this.  It was refreshing and encouraging, like balm to a wound.  Thank you.

  61. […] Be Willing to Wait. Sometimes I feel like my prayers fall on deaf ears, or maybe God is simply ignoring me.  When I dive into scripture I realize that God can and always will hear my questions, my pleas and cries. I also realize that sometimes he calls his people to wait. When I want things to happen right now, sometimes God is calling for me to be patient.  I’m not the first one he has asked to wait on Him. He kept Moses in a desert for 40 years!  So my first resolution is really to draw near, be faithful to my Father, and be willing to wait on his plan, and not depend on my own. […]

  62. I am JESSICA NAIYE, I promise to share this testimony all over the world once my Husband return back to me, and today with all due respect i want to thank DR.OTONO (THE MAN GODSENT TO RESTORE MY MARRIAGE) for bringing joy and happiness to my relationship and my family. I want to inform you all that there is a spell caster that is real and genuine. I never believed in any of these things until i loosed my Husband, I required help until i found a grate spell caster, And he cast a love spell for me, and he assured me that I will get my Husband back in two days after the spell has been cast. Three days later, my phone rang, and so shockingly, it was my Husband who has not called me for past 6 years now, and made an apology for the heart break, and told me that he is ready to be my back bone till the rest of his life with me. DR.OTONO released him up to know how much i loved and wanted him back. And opened his eyes to picture how much we have share together. As I`m writing this testimony right now I`m the most happiest Woman on earth and me and my Husband is living a happy life and our love is now stronger than how it were even before our break up. 65. I wouldn’t say it’s just about waiting. Heavenly Father follows the law of creation with everything He creates, including experiences in our lives. The law of creation requires a gestation period, where things need to happen in a certain order and it takes time to do that. So instead of waiting for experiences to happen, there are things that have to be learned, in order, over time for the experience to be created. Learning also requires testing to make sure you have it down, just like tests in school or proving yourself you can handle it. Heavenly Father wants us to be responsible adults, so He makes sure we can prove we are before giving us what we want. If He just gave us everything with asked for without effort on our side, He would just spoil us and we would just be children expect everything to be taken care of.

  68. I so needed this! It was like the Lord speaking right to me and to the cry in my heart. I was beginning to despair tonight but just started pressing in through worship. Then I came across this! Wow! Every word! Waiting on so many things and so many promises as well. I’ve been waiting for over over 8 years (much longer for some things). Ive been waiting for healing for many health issues, for freedom and deliverance from anxiety, for children, and for the fulfillment of the ministry call on mine and my husband’s life. My current life looks nothing like what God has said He will do, but I know He is faithful. This has been a dessert experience but through it have come rich spiritual lessons and an ever deepening intimacy with the Lord that I wouldn’t trade for anything. I just needed to be reminded of that, and that He works all things together for good. Thank you!! Be blessed!

  70. I just found out I have HIV . My doctor did a blood test it came up HIV. I have been with my husband for first years and he showed up negative. I don’t understand how I can have it and he can not. He is the only person I have been with in the last five years. He doesn’t want to have sex anymore and I’m afraid this is going to cause us to get divorced.

  72. When my boyfriend and I broke up I was completely lost. A good friend of mine recommended that I have a love spell cast to bring him back by http://ancientfathersandmothers.com I thought that idea of a love spell was strange, but was willing to give it a shot. When I contacted Dr. Lee for the first time I was scared because I was not sure if what they did went against my religion. He assured me that they only use Ancient traditional magic spell which is safe and has no side effects. I felt a little better and decided to do the return lover spell. I did not think that it would work considering my ex and his whole family hated me and told me never to contact them again. Within a week he showed up at my job and brought flowers to me. He said that he missed me more than he could describe and decided that the good out weighed the bad. We got back together and our relationship has been better the second time around. I have to give http://ancientfathersandmothers.com all of the credit in the world for helping us get back to a better place than where we began. The new found love that he has for me is incredible and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

  73. THE GRAT Dr.Ogul THAT BRING MY HUSBAND BACK TO ME,AM NOW A HAPPY WOMAN,I DID BELIVER THAT MY HUSBAND CAN COME BACK TO ME AGAIN UNTILL I MEANT DR OGUL THAT HELP ME AND After being in relationship with him for 3 years,he broke up with me, I did everything possible to bring him back but all was in vain, I wanted him back so much because of the love I have for him, I begged him with everything, I made promises but he refused. I explained my problem to someone online and she suggested that I should rather contact a spell caster that could help me cast a spell to bring him back but I am the type that never believed in spell, I had no choice than to try it, I mailed the spell caster, and he told me there was no problem that everything will be okay before three days, that my ex will return to me before three days, he cast the spell and surprisingly in the second day, it was around 4pm. My ex called me, I was so surprised, I answered the call and all he said was that he was so sorry for everything that happened, that he wanted me to return to him, that he loves me so much. I was so happy and went to him, that was how we started living together happily again. Since then, I have made promise that anybody I know that have a relationship problem, I would be of help to such person by referring him or her to the only real and powerful spell caster who helped me with my own problem and who is different from all the fake ones out there. Anybody could need the help of the spell caster, his email is [email protected] you can email him if you need his assistance in your relationship or any other problem.email him now [email protected]

  74. @kelvin But don’t forget, God also commend husbands to love their wives just like Christ lay down His life for the church, so men has a wayy bigger responsibility towards loving their wives. As much as women who are married are to obey their husbands (and obey with wisdom, because if he beats the woman than she has every rights and SHOULD leave him because God will never ask a woman to stay with a beating abusive husband), Christian men has the responsibility to protect and respect and love their wives, wanting what is best for them. Although I do agree feminist (radical feminist are sometimes geting out of hand, but what i hate more is when Christian or teachers who try to use the words to twist and abuse women, making them follow the rules and neglecting the men’s duty as well)
There are cases where perhaps the husband is not beating and absuive but have different belief and/or mind-set with their wives, and where God makes the wife to stay in the marriage while obeying her husband, it is ultimately for the woman because perhaps it’s a cross to bear where in the the end of the road leads to a better person transformation.
And as long as she does her part, God will ultimately be the revenger for her towards the husband that’s taking advantage, and boy he better watch out because God sure don’t go easy on those who take advantage of His children.

And just so you know, it was only after the Fall does men and women becomes unequal in this fallen world, but in God’s eye men and women ARE equal.

  76. i will wait patiently on the Lord. He has never let me down before
I trust God and His timing. I have overwhelming faith that He
is for me and will give me beauty for ashes.Remember how you actually wait is so important. Wait with expectancy. Wait with a great attitiude knowing that God is working day and night preparing my blessings i have become so much closer to God because of this waiting period. i trust and beleive and have overwhelming faith that God will answer all of my prayers. Wait with life, experiencing every day with joy and faith, becuase this os the day God has made and enjoy

  77. Will someone please explain how faith works more clearly? It seems as though the longer you wait and without any sign that would produce lack of faith.

  78. I find it interesting though…during his ministry, everyone who came to Jesus for healing received it rather promptly. It’s also key to notice that he quite often said ‘according to YOUR faith, be it unto you’ … not ‘thank goodness I’m God and it just so happened to be my will for you to heal today.’ The word also says ‘Jesus Christ, the same yesterday today and forever’ so why should he operate differently today?
There are many things God requires patience for in a Christian walk, but, just like salvation (a word which actually covers the body as well btw) I believe when we come to God for healing, we should not expect to wait. (Jesus bore our sicknesses on the same day he atoned for our sins. Check Isaiah 53 and Mat 8:17).
Romans 10:17 says ‘Faith comes by hearing, and by hearing the word of God.’  I think if more people started hearing the full Gospel and that they could be healed immediately as opposed to having to wait, more people would have the faith to BE healed immediately.

  79. @Guest  Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing, and by hearing the word of God.’ The Bible is the word of God. Hearing a good preacher greatly helps. ( http://www.flcbranson.org/freedownloads-serieslist.php?category=Faith ) Hebrews 11:1 explains that ‘Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.’ To be in faith, means, believing you have the very thing you do not have currently in the physical realm – which is certainly odd to the human mind but not to God, ‘…who calls those things that be not, as though they already were.’ (Rom 4:17 KJV) Hope this helps :)

  80. “…. I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.”
    Ether 12:6
Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ
Faith is things which are hoped for and not seen. I really believe God can heal or give answers whenever He desires, but ultimately He wants to help us build our Faith in Him, grow, and strengthen that relationship we have with Him.
“Faith in God includes Faith in His timing.”
    – Neal A. Maxwell

  81. This came at a perfect time for me as I was having one of those questioning episodes.  Most of my life has been waiting for specific blessings that I have prayed for and have worked for, but haven’t happened.  Even though I know it is in the Lord’s time and might not be answered on this earth, there are times I wonder.  Then these little reminders come to my attention which help me realize yet again that He does know and He does want what is best for me, but I need to follow His plan and not mine.  Thanks for the uplifting words.

  82. If anyone in this
world believed in spell… it wasn’t me. I was (Doubting Thomas) when it had to
do with spells, magic, voodoo, and any of those sort, until I had an
experiential encounter with a real herbalist. I was on a business trip to
Africa which was sponsored by the company I work for. Business class ticket,
five star hotel, a personal driver…all kind of luxury of that kind. I was to
stay there for a week. On the second day of this trip, I taught I needed to get
a girl to warm up my bed for the rest of the days I would be staying there. So,
one faithful evening, I asked my driver to take me on a cruise. Into the
streets we went and in less than 3mins, I found exactly what I needed. Before I
could blink, she already was on my bed because of my luxurious lifestyle. This
went on until I left Africa. I went back to the States and lived my normal
life. After about 8 months, I fell very sick. Went to the hospital and… I am
POSITIVE (HIV). Immediately, my mind flashed back to the girl in Africa because
we always were having unprotected sex and I equally had seen ARV in her purse but
she said she had just gone to collect it for her father. Foolishly, I never
suspected anything. I immediately called this African girl and told her how she
just had ended my life. She laughed and told me not to worry about it. I got
very angry but she told me she had been cleansed off HIV. I couldn’t believe
what she was saying until she sent me a copy of her recently done test result.
I begged her for the cure, and without hesitation, she told me about the
herbalist that made her whole. I told her that I was going to do anything to
get his contact, and immediately, she sent his email address
([email protected]) and I contacted him. In 3 days, I went back
to the hospital to get a test done, just as the herbalist had said. Behold…
The result… NEGATIVE. All you out there experiencing medical problems beyond
scientific solutions,do run to Dr. Payo
Shalo for rapid solutions… I no longer am (Doubting Thomas)…lol.

  89. @Guest I really like the way 1 Peter 1:3-7 says it, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (emphasis mine).  Trials and waiting can cause our faith in Jesus Christ to grow…if we turn to Him for strength when it’s hard.  I definitely struggle when God sends trials my way, so I’m not speaking as an expert here :-), but as I look back on the past, it is good to see how God grew me through the valleys.  All the best to you!

If his plans do not include answering my prayer then at least I only have to go as far as I have come feeling this pain and then I get to go be with him.

  94. Well many of us Good single men that really wanted to get married and have a family which the women of today are really to Blame since the ones that now have their Careers which they’re so very high maintenance, independent, selfish, spoiled, greedy, picky, and so very money hungry which is the Real Excellent Reason why many of us are still Single which even God Can’t help us since the women of today are Nothing at all like the real Good old fashioned women were that would have made it much Easier for us finding love if we had been born at a much Earlier Time back then.

  95. Is his greater purpose for me to be single for 40 years, have no family, no woman to share love with? Just asking , because he is silent….
