I have found that if you have a Bible with footnotes, read them first. I have a room I close the door and read aloud. If you do this, it helps you stay focused. Also, I have a Bible application that is audio and often listen to the scripture as well. I am on my third reading through and I did start in Genesis. The first time through I also alternated and read from Psalms, Proverbs, and the Gospels. I take time to read all introductions and pictures. Often I research places, people, and events. I try to read one chapter daily. It took a little over a year the first time and second. I started again some time in January and am in Exodus again. Every time I read, I learn more. And with reading aloud, it’s not boring!
