If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
One of the worst things that we can do as a Christian, is to think that God will stop loving us when we disappoint Him. We all are a work in progress. We all make mistakes.
It’s how we recover from them, that counts. Do you even acknowledge them? Do you pray about them? Do you learn from them?
As a baby learns to walk, naturally he or she will stumble and fall. Our job as a parent is to pick them up, Let them know that everything will be okay, and to encourage them to try again.
Well, that’s exactly what God does for us! He’s always there to pick us up when we stumble or fall in our Christian walk. Don’t let your past mistakes stop you from continuing your Christian walk.
As long as you’re breathing, it’s not too late to let God use you. It’s not too late for Him to turn it around.
Here are the top 3 Things that can cause a Christian to stumble…
Sex:
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “Love is blind” But is it really? I sure don’t think so.
The truth is …we as Christians know when we are in an ungodly relationship. It’s not good for us or our Christian walk. Instead of walking away, we allow that relationship to drain us until we feel we have nothing left.
Money:
The bible says the love of money is the root of all evil. If we’re not careful, money can also become the God we worship.
Fickle Prayer Life:
You may have been through a really trying season where you prayed around the clock. But as soon as your situation started shifting, your prayers became more and more scarce and then finally they were non existent.
Here are 3 ways to Recover When You Stumble…
Repent and Keep Walking:
Many understand the term repentance to mean “turning from sin.” This is not the biblical definition of repentance.
In the Bible, the word repent means “to change one’s mind.”
The Bible also tells us that true repentance will result in a change of actions.
Acts 26:20 declares, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
The full biblical definition of repentance is a change of mind that results in a change of action.
Don’t Depend on Your Own Strength:
Proverbs 3:6 says “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
When you stay committed to God in prayer, you are operating under God’s strength, not your own. Things that may have seemed impossible, suddenly are possible. Things that are temptations or distractions for you, you will no longer desire.
Choose Your Friends Wisely:
You may think you’re strong enough to resist temptation or that it doesn’t matter if the people around you are doing wrong as long as you’re not doing it.
True, you can’t change anyone nor will you be punished for their wrong doings, but why even put yourself in a situation where you will be tempted to do wrong?
What’s your biggest stumbling block? No matter what it is, just know that you can defeat it.
