Last night Whitney Houston was honored by the Grammys with the star-studded tribute: We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston. Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, CeCe Winans and other shared their memories of the iconic entertainer and performed some of her greatest hits at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
“She inspired a generation of little girls and women to believe in their own dream and to know that they had within themselves the greatest gift of all. I was one of those little girls who then became a woman who never ever, ever, stopped loving Whitney Houston,” Berry said onstage during a tearful introduction.
Bobbi Kristina, her reported fiancé Nick Gordon, and Whitney Houston’s sister-in-law Pat Houston were seated front row at the event.
Jennifer Hudson rocked a 1980’s look while performing a medley of Houston’s uptempo hits, including “I’m Every Woman,” “How Will I Know” and “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
Usher performed “I Believe in You and Me,” and gospel legends CeCe Winans and Yolanda Adams delivered a stirring rendition of “Count On Me.”
The one-hour CBS special will be aired on November 16.
