You’re dating someone and are unsure if the person you’re dating is afraid of committing to you.
Granted, relationships should always start out as a beautiful friendship first. But, before you start hearing wedding bells ringing in your head and envisioning yourself in that custom made wedding dress, make sure the person you’re investing so much of your time in is on the same page as you.
Sometimes the red flags are there from the beginning, but we choose to ignore them.
Here are seven warning signs he’s not willing to commit…
They’re moving too fast
We all know that as Christians, we are not supposed to have sex until married anyway. BUT, Christian or no Christian, there’s no way anyone should even mention sex to you if they haven’t mentioned anything about being in a relationship or building some sort of future with you.
You haven’t met their family yet
I personally think that new relationships should be tested before the two of you decide to introduce one another to your families. Especially if there’s kids involved.
Typically 3-6 months (depending on how much time you guys spend together). IF a whole year has passed and you still haven’t met their family/ kids, THERE’S a BIG problem!
They’re Leaving Their Options Open
If the person is dating multiple people while dating you, this is a major sign that they are looking for short-term relationships with little commitment, not an exclusive relationship.
Sometimes “I’m not ready” means “I’m ready… just not with YOU!” When a person is willing to commit to you, there’s no need to explore what else is out there.
They Criticize the Little Things
My mom always warned me “don’t try to make someone stay, who constantly makes excuses to leave”. I’ve learned that when someone starts to nitpick about even the smallest things in a relationship, this may be a sign they’re looking for their out.
Think about it… the more they nitpick, the more you’ll want out too. Mission accomplished!
They Always Threaten to End The Relationship
If the person you’re with threatens to leave whenever a disagreement arises, this is more than just a threat. Brace yourself. It’s a promise of what’s to come.
They Talk about the Relationship in the Short Term
A person who wants to invest in a future with you will always talk about the relationship in the long term. If you’ve been invested in the relationship for awhile but it doesn’t seem to be moving forward, this is a sign they’re not interested in taking the relationship to the next level.
They may only be interested in companionship and the benefits that come along with it.
