Here are five positive ways to start your day…
Some days I feel like I’m on top of the world and other days I feel like the world is on top of me.
When I stop and think about it, I realize it’s just a decision. I am just one decision away from choosing to be happy or choosing to be sad. I know life happens, but our reaction is what makes the difference.
These 5 things can make each day a great day…
1. Wake up with a grateful heart and spirit.
I recently saw an article that mentioned people who are grateful are naturally happier people, which makes perfect sense. It’s all about perception.
For example, I spill coffee on my shirt and I don’t have time to change before work. I have two choices:
a) I can blow up get upset at myself and the car in front of me that suddenly stopped which caused me to spill my coffee.
b) I can say “ok it’s cool. I will clean my shirt when I get to work, at least I have a job to go to.”
Your perception determines your response and your actions.
2. Pray before you leave your house.
My husband and I started a tradition when we got married to always pray together and read scriptures before bed and before we leave in the morning.
This not only blesses our marriage, by putting God first, but helps us individually by realizing our source is God and not each other or our jobs.
Prayer has the power to shift the atmosphere and your mindset.
3. Releasing negative vibes and spirits.
There’s no doubt that there are evil spirits lurking around us daily trying to kill and destroy us (John 10:10), but the Bible gives us the answer on how to combat the devil and his demonic spirits.
In James 4:7 it reads “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you“. When we ignore the devil and his tactics, he moves on to the next person.
Another way to ward off negative spirits is through meditation. I usually put on my worship music (Elevation Church, Tasha Cobbs, Hillsong, Travis Green, Planetshakers, Lauren Daigle, just to name a few), close my eyes and allow God’s presence to calm my spirit as I release everything to Him.
4. Just Relax.
Take a walk, get some fresh air listen to the birds chirp and the hustle and bustle of the city life. Take a moment to admire the goodness of the Lord by looking at His marvelous creations.
Sometimes we get so caught up in everything that’s going on around us that we forget to stop and enjoy what’s right in front of us.
5. Show some love.
If you are married kiss your spouse everyday before you leave.
For those of you who have children, give them a hug and kiss and words of affirmation everyday before they go off to school.
If you are single, text your friends and give them an encouraging word…9/10 times they probably really need it.
Smile at a stranger.
Hold the door open for someone.
Do something kind like pay for the person’s food behind you in the drive-thru line.
Doing good for someone else not only blesses others, but it will make you feel good too.
Bottom line, you are the only one who can decide the type of day you will have, no matter what circumstance you may encounter. Make the decision to make every day a great day.
Of course there are plenty of other positive ways to start your day. Share yours in the comments.
