(Proverbs 16:7)- When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
What is your attitude when someone wrongs you? I know my first thought is sometimes revenge but this is not what God instructs us to do. God calls us to show love for our enemies and those that hurt us. Jesus Christ showed love for enemies while hanging on the cross. Let us Christians show the same love and compassion for the world by treating our enemies gently and with truth and love.
Years ago, I started a new job. Let’s just say, Not everyone was happy with my presence. There was one person in particular, that made it clear every chance she got, that she didn’t like me. I would walk into my workplace, say good morning, and she would ignore me. The tension was so thick whenever we were around each other. She would make sarcastic comments about me to other co- workers while I was sitting no more than 10 feet of them. It got so bad that I hated going to work each day. Finally, I prayed that God would soften this lady’s heart towards me. That I could continue to be the Christian I proclaim to be, even though I wanted to give her a piece of my mind most times. I would pray for her every morning before I would get out my car.
Little by little she started to come around. It went from her talking about me, to her talking to me. She finally took the time to get to know me instead of assuming who I was. She was a non believer, so I eventually invited her to church and let me tell you, I have seen God work miracles within her. A total transformation. She’s now a mighty Woman of God! Looking back, I can’t even tell you the exact moment we became besties, but God made it possible.
If you’re having an issue with someone, the last thing you want to do is add fuel to the fire by responding in a negative way. Pray about it and watch God work wonders!
