Claire Wineland was born with Cystic Fibrosis, and has survived more hospitalizations and surgeries than she can count. I absolutely LOVE this kid! She is wise beyond her years and such a beautiful spirit! We all ,Old and Young could learn a thing or two from her.
In April 2010, Claire, 13, fell into a coma. Her parents were told there was less than a 1% chance she would survive. Claire woke up 3 weeks later. Three months later she was back at home, though her doctors warned she would likely need a lung transplant in the not-too distant future.
But, Claire was determined to live her life to the fullest, and start fulfilling her dreams. She started with a trip to Alaska.
In April Claire celebrated her 15th birthday. Her doctors and nurses at Miller Children’s Hospital helped her celebrate by making her a huge birthday poster.
Claire continues to use her inspirational story to help raise money for her non-profit, Claire’s Place Foundation which helps families of children dealing with Cystic Fibrosis.
