I was having a conversation the other day with someone about how faith is a large part of my life and how I want to use my Master’s in Promotions to incorporate and share faith, hope, and inspiration.
The person I was speaking with was only focused on one thing, money. I realized there was some truth in what he was saying. Yes, I need money to survive. However, he was missing the bigger picture.
I believe my resume and faith speak for themselves. That is what I want to speak. I work hard everyday and bust my butt, sacrificing a lot to get to where I need to be professionally and spiritually. I am at a place in my life where I can honestly say, God is my center.
The person didn’t understand and assured me that I’d “get it” and understand when I was older.
In that moment I could choose to accept and believe “the world,” or take the high road and be happy knowing I have a purpose. I didn’t need to argue with someone who actually didn’t get it himself.
So many people know the world more than they know God. The world will say you “don’t get it”. Well, there are a lot of people who think they have life “figured out” and “get it” but actually, they don’t and are missing out on true key components of a true happy, purpose-fulfilling life.
I don’t want to just go through the motions … getting by. Life is so much fulfilling than that. When we truly form a connection with our faith, with God, we experience the richness of life. And by rich, I don’t mean monetary.
The world wants us to believe that money is the root of happiness. Fake it till you make it! But so many people have it backwards. God is the root of all and true happiness. The Bible says in Proverbs 3:6, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
When you build your life on faith, God, and purpose, your needs will be met, and you will grow into the person He has called you to be. You will be truly happy.
Yes, you need money to survive, to flourish, to get to where you need to be in life, but there is one thing that is much more important which so many people miss out on — FAITH.
Now let me say, there is nothing wrong with making money and buying nice things. Just don’t forget about the larger picture. The bigger purpose. It is then when we become whole.
I know there is room for growth professionally and spirituality in my life, but in my 26 years I can honestly say I am on the right path and I am beginning to “get it.” I now realize it’s not about me. It’s about Him.
It’s about using your gifts, your talents, to add value to the world. Of course, it also takes hard work and dedication. I know every breath I take has meaning and I am here for a purpose.
If you’re only looking inward instead of outward, and you don’t look to God, you aren’t getting the most out of life and you aren’t truly living. You aren’t seeing this beautiful thing called life from our heavenly Creator.
Because once you put your hope in Him and not in things, people, or the world, then you truly get it! It may take 18, 26, or 50 years.
We are only here temporarily, but God is always there today, tomorrow, and forever. God is forever. He is everlasting. Matthew 5:10 says, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
So work hard, be humble, hungry, and don’t just live through the motions of everyday life, choose to truly live. Choose to believe. Choose to have Faith!
