5 Things That Happen When We Pray
Every time you pray, God is listening. Think about how amazing that is!
God has the power to transform your life from the inside out through prayer.
The Bible tells us, “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results” (James 5:16).
When we pray, something always happens.
Our prayer time is an opportunity to acknowledge the reality that God is responsible for the soul of another. How great that God lets us contribute.
God is eagerly awaiting your prayers.
Here are 5 incredible things that happen when we pray…
1. You grow closer to Christ
Prayer is your direct link to God.
Talking to Him brings you closer to Him, making you more attune to His purpose for your life!
We grow close to our friends through conversation and meaningful connection. Through prayer, this is how we can develop a strong relationship with God.
God wants us to be a part of His life and He wants us to know Him. When we pray, we are building that relationship with our Savior. This relationship is so important because it is the foundation for the rest of our faith.
We cannot go forward in our faith walk without having a strong connection with God.
2. Sense of Relief
Praying about our troubles and frustrations will ease the weight of what we carry on our backs each day.
God is happy to take on the burden of pain and wants us to feel a sense of relief when we turn to Him in prayer.
Living a Christian life requires us to sometimes need to recharge our “spiritual battery.” We may feel we lack the power to carry out our intended functions due to extra worry, busy schedules or similar.
Through prayer, we can get a connection to recharge ourselves. We give up our anger, sadness, and every negative emotion we are holding within.
God, in return, refills us with hope, power and a sense of relief that allows us to move forward feeling strong.
3. Grace and Forgiveness
When we pray to God, we are able to seek out His grace and forgiveness for the wrongs we have done.
God knows that we are not perfect and does not expect us to be.
Instead, God invites us to come to Him in prayer and be open about our downfalls. We can discuss the things we have done wrong and why we may have chosen to commit the sin.
Through this discussion, we are able to ask God for His forgiveness. God shows us grace by lifting the burden of our sins off of us.
He wants us to live meaningful, loving and happy lives. If we ask for forgiveness and grace, we are guided to make better choices in the future and will have a more trusting relationship with the Lord.
4. Better Decision Making
Through prayer, you can tap into divine knowledge of every area of your life.
You are able to find the knowledge necessary to make some tough decisions through the aid of the Lord.
This is not a new discovery, and many characters from the Bible attribute their success, wealth and victories through their conversations with God.
This is evident by the kings of Israel when they sought God’s counsel whether or not to go into battle or how to defeat their enemies.
There is no need to go through life confused about anything when God has promised that if you call on Him, He will give you the answer to which you do not know. He will help you when you lack the wisdom necessary.
5. You help others
Praying for others, especially in their presence, can be an amazing encouragement.
They will know your love as well as the love of God!
These days many want to be prayed for, but few will actually take the time to pray for others. As Christians, it’s not only our duty to pray for others, it’s a privilege that God smiles upon. He is pleased when we pray for others.
I am reminded of this in Job 42:10:
“And the LORD restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.”
How is your prayer life with the Lord?
If you’ve been a believer for some time, you may have realized the difficulty of building up a prayer life, and possibly even given up. It’s hard to do, but we should continue to try and create a strong prayer life because the benefits of prayer are so tremendous.
Since it’s so easy to get discouraged and give up on prayer, it’s worth considering some of the awesome benefits of prayer that make pursuing a prayer life worthwhile.
Some beautiful things happen to us when we pray. We grow in our faith with God, are able to relax and pause, and lift up the sins we have committed.
God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him and gave us a direct line to call him on 24/7 through prayer. We never need to feel alone with God is asking us to pray to Him daily.
