Have you ever felt like you’re just going through the motions. You go to church, Read your bible, and try your best to live a life that is pleasing to God, but no matter what you do, He still feels far away from you?
If you feel as a Christian that you could be closer to God, just know that God loves you dearly and would love nothing more than to be close to you.
Sometimes our circumstances stray us away from God without us even realizing it at first. We’re so focused on our problems, we forget all about the one person who can actually solve them.
Here are 7 Things To Do When God Seems Far Away…
Pray
Though this may seem obvious, pray. Make sure the words come from your heart and are not just empty words. Imagine yourself coming before him and seeing his majesty as you pray. God wants you to have a conversation with Him, not to cite empty words to Him.
Think of him as your friend, your father.
Repent
Confess your sins to Him and ask for forgiveness. Pray for help with all the things you are struggling with spiritually. Once you have prayed about it and have been forgiven, it is important to forgive yourself.
You can try making a prayer journal if you would like to record your petitions and their results.
Imagine Him With You all the time
I do this all the time. Especially when I’m tempted to get out of Christian mode for a second. (lol) When I’m being tested by others, it’s kind of hard for me to get loud, irate, rude when all I can see is God standing next to me shaking His head telling me “Don’t do it”. Hey it works for me. Maybe it will work for you!
Gather a support group
Talk to your minister, priest, pastor etc. about questions you may have. Speak with people who have traveled the same road you are now on. They can lift you up and provide much wisdom. Keep your circle a positive one.
Read the Bible
Reading your Bible every day is essential in growing closer to God. Before you read, ask God to open up your heart, soul, and mind to whatever He wants to show you.
Read one or two chapters a day, (maybe one in the morning and one in the evening, whatever works best with your schedule) and really think about what the writer is saying.
Pray as you read, and talk to God about what those verses mean. This is an EXCELLENT way to grow closer to God.
Pay attention in church
You’ll learn a lot more and feel more in tune with God. Take notes in church. This helps tremendously and later on, you can review them and figure out how to apply principles to your own life.
Participate in church
Get active. It’s not enough to just go to church. Join a ministry: Choir, Usher, Homeless Ministry, Outreach Ministries etc. Look at it like this, Your church is your team and you’re playing against Satan. Are you on the team or on the bench?
