How will I ever get through this?
This is one of the key questions we ask when faced with life challenges. Most Christians like myself don’t generally doubt whether God has the capability to answer their prayers, because we believe that He is able.
But the question of whether He will come through for us is what so many people doubt, including myself at times. Whether or not we believe that He will, sometimes depends on our past experiences with God. It also depends on our level of faith and our endurance level.
During these difficult times, it’s easy to doubt God’s willingness to help us. or lose sight of His faithfulness whenever we find ourselves in a difficult situation, especially when it is one that has persisted for a while.
And although the pain or disappointment we are feeling is starting to seem unbearable, we must choose to focus on God, His promises and His goodness. Otherwise, we will be tempted to give in to the lies of the enemy that He’s forgotten about us or doesn’t care about us.
The Bible states this about God’s commitment to help us in the passage below.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
I don’t know how long you have been waiting for an answer to your prayer, but what I do know is this… God is good and He is so faithful!
And if He is a good God, then that presupposes the notion that He wishes to bless you with the desires of you heart, as long as it’s in line with His will for your life and at the right time.
Take for example, the Israelites and their leader, Moses. When they were confronted with the red sea ahead and their oppressors behind. They may have questioned God’s presence and willingness to save them.
Thoughts like, “do we turn back or do we run into the sea” may have plagued their minds. Whichever way they looked at their situation, without God coming through for them, they would have perished.
And so just like the Israelites, how do we respond when we find ourselves at the crossroad of life and we start to wonder if God will show up in our situation?
I believe the answer to this question can be derived from the way Moses responded to the peculiar situation at hand in Exodus 14:13-14…
“Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Fear not – Refuse to allow fear to gain hold of your heart. You can’t exercise faith and fear at the same time.
Make positive affirmations a daily part of your life – Moses declared that the Egyptians they saw, they would see no more.
Believe and have faith in God that He will fight for you. Hold your peace!
