Yes, we all have weaknesses in the flesh that God recognizes and is not at all surprised by.
“He does not punish us for all our sins; He does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For His unfailing love toward those who fear Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. The Lord is like a father to His children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him. For He knows how weak we are; He remembers we are only dust.” – {Psalm 103:10-14}
But without faith it is impossible to please God {Hebrews 11:6}. Your faith in God and who God says you are is the very thing that drives you towards your finishing line in life – don’t check yourself, don’t look at the weakness of your flesh, because if you believe by faith, God is the only one to strengthen you in your weaknesses {2 Corinthians 12:9}.
So REJOICE in who you are, you who are fearfully and wonderfully made! {Psalm 139:14}. This doesn’t allow for Christians to live sloppy lives, on the contrary, the fact God says you’re RIGHTEOUS in Christ gives you the confidence to step into and fully get acquainted with the new creation that you are, once receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. That is why when you sin in the flesh, it is so important to forgive yourself immediately after asking God to forgive you and get back on the right track.
Don’t cry your eyes out about what a pathetic sinner you are. {Romans 8:1} Simply admit where you’ve gone wrong to your Father, He’ll forgive you and through the Holy Spirit He’ll ask you to take caution the next time you are tempted {1 Corinthians 10:13}.
Remember, now that you’re in Christ you are a new creation! Old things pass away, behold, all things have become new {2 Corinthians 5:17}. Focus on the fact that you are a child of God now – anything that needs settling with the Father you can do BOLDLY, but once that issue is resolved – Keep it moving!
