It doesn’t matter if you go to church every day, or every Sunday.  What really matters is the person you’re becoming every time you step out of the church. What good does it do to be praying earnestly when you can’t even listen to someone who needs someone to talk to?  So what if you’re present in every church activity, when you’re distant from your family and friends because you can’t make time for them.  What is the use of knowing and memorizing the Bible verse line per line when you don’t live out to what it means? The essence…

If only life could be painless. But, it isn’t. Life is full of pain. Pain brought by physical illness or discomfort, emotional pain or psychosomatic pain. What if I tell you, that you cannot avoid pain but you can most certainly choose your kind of pain? Choose the pain of training, exercise, saying no to vices, and eating right over the pain of sickness that an unhealthy lifestyle brings. Choose the pain of turning your back from the Sale sign in the stores, the pain of not using the latest gadget that your colleagues are quick to purchase, the pain…

Last week, I kept hearing a rustling sound behind me while I was jogging down a path. It wasn’t a windy day, and I was alone. Every time, I would hear the sound, I’d stop and look behind me. It took a few minutes for me to realize the rustling sound of the leaves was caused by the wind created by my jogging. The funniest thing about the whole situation was I felt like I was jogging all of 2mph, but somehow I was still making an impact. This is how our faith works. Matthew 17:20 says, “And Jesus said…

When you keep on giving your all at your job, worked diligently and with integrity yet promotion seems to be out of the way…keep on keeping on. When you keep on loving unconditionally, caring constantly, and people don’t appreciate you…keep on keeping on. When you keep on being kind, generous, understanding and still receive unkindness and inconsideration…keep on keeping on. When you keep on taking care of your health but your doctor told you some bad news…keep on keeping on. When you keep on praying earnestly, calling on God’s name but your prayers seem to fall on deaf ears…keep on…

I had my bathroom redone a few years ago and so the tiles on the walls are fairly new. Today as I went about the task of cleaning them, for whatever reason, I just could not get a few of the stains between the tiles to move. I went into my arsenal and got out all the name-brand cleaners. I tried every single one – sprayed and let soak. I noticed, however, that instead of removing the stains, they actually turned the area white (due to the bleach). Maybe I had used too many cleaners or maybe I had used…

5 Things To Do When People Hurt You When people hurt you, sometimes it’s easier to just walk away and don’t look back. Sometimes we don’t want to work things out and be like Jesus and forgive.  No matter how hard or strong we claim to be,  the actions of others can sometimes hurt us to our core. Some people may try to tough it out and will pretend the words or actions of others don’t effect them, but the truth of the matter is… sometimes they do! You can’t control what they do, but you can control how you respond to them. So how do you…

I was born and raised in St. Charles, Missouri, just on the outskirts of St. Louis. After graduating with a B.A. in Journalism, I sent out dozens of resumes and work samples to job openings, many in other states. I landed a job as a news reporter, five hours away from my home. I had lived in Missouri all 22 years of my life and had never moved away, yet I packed my bags and out the door I went. Leaving behind my family and friends in Missouri, I moved to Clarksville, Tennessee where I did not know a soul.…

Once we know our God given purpose, it begins to take control of our lives. Some may think they understand it or that they are living it out, yet they lack the insight and connection with God to truly understand it. Passion and purpose are often used interchangeably, yet they are two different things. Many may have passion for something and it’s not their God given purpose. Passion by itself may drive you in circles doing any and everything to make that passion turn into success. While God may allow you to have some success because of your hard work,…

For the last few years, particularly after my family and I lost my mother who was very much the spiritual glue in the family, I’ve watched my family spiral out of control. Losing touch with God and my mother’s memory, I have seen how that has created a situation where my family has lost touch with one another. Every time I come home, I am reminded how self-centered, individualistic, uncompassionate, hypocritical and cold so many of my loved ones have become. I see how callous and dismissive they can be to my beloved grandmother and it truly breaks my heart.…

I can’t count how many times I’ve prayed, waited, prayed some more, and then when my prayers weren’t answered when I expected, I automatically assumed God did not love me.  (silly me) I couldn’t understand why everyone around me was being blessed and my prayers were going unheard. Some of the things I was praying for two years ago, I can honestly now sit back and laugh about. If I had my way, I would probably still be with my ex dealing with the same issues I was dealing with two years ago. But thank God… He knows all and sees all. He knows…
