The second presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney was held at the campus of Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York. The town-hall-style debate, with an audience of uncommitted voters selected by Gallup, was moderated by CNN’s Candy Crowley. Here are some highlights of the action: The first question of the evening was from a college student wondering what the employment situation would be when he graduated: Romney said keeping college costs affordable was essential, and that he had a five-point plan for the economy: “I will make sure you have a job when you graduate in 2014.” Obama answered: “Governor…

God is getting ready to “allow” extreme pressure to come into your life in order to thrust or shove you into the place that He has created you to exist in….the place of purpose. For some of you, the pushing has already started. I know it’s uncomfortable and it may even hurt but just know that the thrust is designed to get you to the place that God has destined for you to be. The good news is what the enemy means for evil, He is going to work it together for your good. God is allowing this storm to push…

Jesus is my defense. If He does not defend me, it means that there are things in my life that are not to be defended, and it’s better to find out about them now rather than later. On the other hand, because I take the Lord as my defense, and He defends me, what can those who are against me do to me? – Joseph Prince Some things aren’t worth our time! The word says that he will perfect that which concerns us. So give it to Jesus, and it will all work out. Today, ask God to reveal whatever it…

Sometimes we have to go through things, to get us to focus on the things we should have been focusing on all along. If you’re looking for clarity on a situation today, ask God to reveal what it is that He wants you to focus on. It’s funny how you can meet someone only once, but yet that person will stay in your mind forever. I remember sitting in a Starbucks surfing the web as a young lady came and sat not too far from me. She continued to hold a conversation on her cell phone and I continued to…

How many of us truly strive to turn our negatives in positives? One young lady did exactly that. Janette Colantonio of Summerville, South Carolina, recently lost 200 pounds after she received a traffic citation for not wearing her seatbelt because she was obese. At 408 pounds, she simply could not get the seatbelt to extend across her body. After receiving the ticket, she decided to lose the weight, and a year and a half later, she found the officer who issued her the ticket, and thanked him. If this isn’t motivation, I don’t know what is!

For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Sometimes we become so dependent on people, we forget that God is our sole provider. When I think back on my adult life, I’ve always had someone to lean on in my time of need; Someone who I counted on to bail me out of trouble. When I was married, It was my husband. After my divorce, It was my mother. After my mom’s death, it was my aunt… And so on and so on. When I…

Sometimes we pray for things we are not fully prepared for. Some of us ask God to show us a sign whether something or someone is good or bad for us. The funny part is, God may have given us plenty of signs , before we even prayed that prayer. One of my relationships, I REALLY wanted to work! So when we began to have our share of problems, I began to pray. I asked God to show me whether or not this person was the one for me. If not, I prayed that He would remove him from my…

Last night Joshua Rogers was crowned Season 5’s Sunday Best winner. As if that wasn’t reason enough to be excited, He is also the first Male to ever win the title. I don’t know what it was about this season, but it had me sucked in from start to finish. I felt the anointing from both finalist, Joshua Rogers as well as Alexis Spight. I stand in agreeance with Yolanda Adams, Joshua will bring a lot of the younger generation to Christ. God is using him in a mighty big way. Before the winner was crowned, viewers were treated…

“You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.” (Exodus 23:1) Often times, we are quick to judge someone without even knowing them. We choose to dislike others based on appearance or based on what others have said about that person. I recall years ago, I started a new job. During training, I was warned who not to associate with and who I should try to get in good with. There was one person in particular who had a reputation of being holier than thou, stuck up, and…

Gabrielle, who we have come to know as “Gabby,” said she would rather be called “Gabrielle.” [That might be hard to do for some of us who have grown accustomed to calling her “Gabby. Oprah went to Iowa and sat down first with Gabrielle, then with Gabrielle and her mother, then with the Gabrielle’s family and the Iowa host family before going to the gym where the 16-year old, 4 feet 11, 94-pound gymnast trained for 22 months before becoming the first African American to become an Olympian gold medal…

Sometimes we want something so bad that we never stop to ask God what He wants for us. We set our hopes on favors too small. Thinking that if we don’t ask for much, God will answer our prayer. I remember as a child, I would pray for something really big and then I would end my prayer by saying something like “Lord, if You can’t give me what I want, just give me what You can!” As an adult, I’ve learned that our God is not a second best God. He only gives His very best. No in between,…
