7 Things The Enemy Wants You To Believe About God
Sometimes life doesn’t always go as planned.
You may be facing giants in your life right now that go beyond understanding. In our struggles, we often ask deeper questions. Why does God allow bad things happen? Why do bad things happen to good people?
First we need to understand God’s role in tragedy. God is not the author of evil, Satan is. He is roaming all over this earth. Satan has positioned his little helpers of doubt, lies, discouragement and fear in our lives to attack in our most vulnerable moments. It is evident in his attack against our relationships, our children, our marriages, our schools, our country, our government—he’s everywhere.
When tragedy enters our lives, God is the first one to be blamed. When in reality it is the attack of the enemy causing chaos.
What is God’s role when tragedy enters into our life?
Here are 7 Things You Shouldn’t Believe When Tragedy Enters Your Life…
1. God is only good when our life is good.
Is God only good until his next miracle?
In the Bible when Jesus was traveling, He would perform many miracles. He healed the blind, the lame, the leper, even raised the dead. He fed 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. Each time Jesus performed a miracle people wanted more.
Was Jesus only good until the next miracle He performed? Of course not, God is good all the time.
No matter what our circumstances are we can trust that God is never evil—He is always good.
“For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations” (Psalm 100:5).
2. When we suffer it means God doesn’t love us.
We may not like our circumstances or agree with them, but it doesn’t mean God doesn’t love us.
We may not always see what God is up to, but we don’t need to. The only thing we need to know, is God loves us no matter what. He hurts when we hurt and does not like to see us suffer.
Whatever we are going through God will use it for something better and loves us beyond measure.
“You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good” (Gen. 50:20).
3. We should only put our faith in God when things are going well in our life.
Practicing conditional faith can be a slippery slope.
Should we only base our faith on things we see? No one said having faith was easy. When trials enter our life, it really tests our faith and helps us to rely and depend on God for His provision.
God is bigger than any of our circumstances. We only need to have faith the size of a mustard seed for God to move our mountains. If God can conquer death and raise Jesus after three days, just imagine what he can do with our circumstances—if we let Him.
“He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)
4. Being a Christian should guarantee us an easier life.
Being a Christian doesn’t mean we are guaranteed a life without trials or struggles.
Being a Christian means, we are continually seeking a deeper relationship with God. It means that we have God to walk with us in our trials.
He is always with us and will never leave us. God can handle anything. God doesn’t give us more than we can handle, it is we who can’t handle our struggles without God.
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you” (Deut. 31:6).
5. When bad things happen, God is punishing us for our sins or mistakes.
God does not condemn or punish.
To suffer does not mean God doesn’t care. It means we live in a broken world where there is disease, hate, evil and hurt. As Christians, we are not exempt from these things.
We can rejoice in our suffering because even in the face of injustice there is always victory in Christ. No evil can ever change what God has already done for us. What evil intends for evil, God intends for good.
God can take our suffering and turn it into exceedingly more beautiful than it was before.
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:17).
6. God needs a deadline when He should answer our prayers.
God can do more than we can infinitely imagine.
The power of what He is capable of doing is beyond comprehension. God does not need a deadline. While we wait, He grows our patience and teaches us valuable lessons.
When we give God a deadline, we are putting Him in a box. We are placing our trust in what we see, not in what God’s divine power. We are not in control, God is.
God’s timing is perfect. He is able to do immeasurably more. Don’t limit God by giving him a deadline. Be patient and wait for His timing. I promise, He has the best plans ever and they are so much better than ours!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you” (Jer. 29:11).
7. We should stop praying if our prayers aren’t being answered.
Have you been praying for a miracle and God hasn’t answered you yet?
Five years ago when our son passed away from a fatal kidney disease, we prayed for God to heal him. His disease took away his short life on earth, but it did not take away his life in heaven.
Even though God didn’t answer our prayer the way we wanted; He indeed answered our prayer, in a much bigger way. Our son is healed and living in heaven where we will see him again one day.
No matter what the situation is, never stop praying, God is listening. The worst thing we can do is to stop praying, cutting off our communication with God. Prayer allows God’s power to intercede on our behalf. God will never give up on us. Don’t give up on God!
“Pray continually, pray without ceasing” (Thes. 5:17).
